As much as i love having a ghoul, i have to agree with jaceb. Spec unholy dps if you want a pet. If you wanna tank, the only "ghoul" talent you should take is Ravenous Dead for the 3% increase in strength. Drop the ghoul glyph, get something like Icy Touch for extra RP, or Runestrike, or Disease.

As I said, the ghoul is there to die for me. He picks up and/or distracts adds I mouseover (incredibly useful for those split pulls in Violet Hold), he's there to suicide himself as a last ditch 5k AoE, and he's also there as a free 10k heal button.
While i may ditch the glyph, I will not ditch the talent.

I already have him out 95% of the time, and also have NotD, Ravenous Dead and have the glyph. If anything i'd be willing to sacrifice the glyph, notd and possibly ravenous dead just so i can keep my instant death pact and monster distractor.
In not pet friendly fights i tend to leave him way out of the area and on passive, just so i can Death Pact.
He *is* a liability sometimes though.

.
Change on the PTR talent calculator. 2/2 Night of the Dead is now required to get Master of Ghouls. So now its not just 1 point to get a perma-ghoul, but 3 points.
You need 2 things to be a tank. You need to be able to survive attacks, and hold aggro. NotD and MoG does not help you do either.

It does with the survivability.
40% instant heal every 2 minutes.

You get that without putting any points into NotD or MoG.
Again, they do not help with survivability or threat generation. They are dps talents and nothing more. But if you want a hybrid tank/dps spec go for it, it wont help you tank any better though.

You shouldn't need to Death Pact every cooldown - or hell even very often, but i'd still take MoG just for the odd life saving Pact. The alternatives are just threat talents.

Raise Dead might be on cooldown (accident happens twice in not too long) or you get yourself killed before the ghoul manages to claw its way out of the ground.
I'm not saying that this talent for tanks adds a lot to what they do, but it is a safer Death Pact which some people might consider worth it.
Edit: can you actually use death pact as soon as the ghoul is summoned?

I imagine that Gobbo's build would be better off getting Blade Armour. It wouldn't surprise me if the ridiculous AP bonus ended up giving superior Frost/Shadow damage threat to Black Ice, not to meantion strikes too.
