Haha, almost the same thing happend to me.
Was at my friends house playing his rogue when I saw a druid flying to a mine. I flew behind him, landed by the mine and blinded him. The druid then used his PvP trinket and I vanished, sapping him and then mined the node and flew away.
Ten minutes later I get angry tells about getting banned, blacklisted and forced off the server by a level one (which obviously was him using another account to create the character and send me threats)
Imagine what he would have said if you had actually killed him.

This is my best one, and this one is 100% true.
I was running my usual mining route in Sholazar Basin when I came across a
regular saronite node
at The Avalanche. A human rogue was trying to mine it but he was being attacked by 2 undead. Seizing the opportunity, I swooped in and mined it. By the next day, the rogue had me blacklisted in his guild, set me on ignore, tracked down my guild master, and sent him a letter (In WoW, of course) explaining what happened and what precautions were taken against me. All of this over a stupid saronite node which, might I add, only yielded 2 saronite ore. Seems like a pretty big reaction to me...
On the flip side, was it worth landing and stealing a node that someone was obviously working toward, rather than flying off on your merry way, just for two saronite ore?
He overreacted, but you're not a pillar of ethical or accepted conduct yourself.

I decided to go do some old outlands achievements on my main not so long ago, and figured I'd pick up some ore for a couple of alts while I was at it. Flapping across Nagrand I saw a nice rich adamantite node and swooped down upon it, mined it, and mounted up again. I get an angry /w all of a sudden from a mage I hadn't even seen, claiming I ninja'd his node. Sympathetic to the plight of the miner I offered to split the ore with him, but no, this guy was royally p****d. The best part of the rant that followed was where he told me that 80's shouldn't be allowed to mine lower level areas because they don't need the ore and they should stay in Northrend.
About 10 minutes later, after a giggle about it over guild chat, my GM starts getting /w demanding he take immediate action me for my ninja-ing eviltude.
Even better was the time I was fishing in Org (BORING!) and made myself a little fishing buddy (some lowbie who was just as bored as me and got excited at sitting chatting about fishing mechanics with a lvl 80...). The chatter wasn't constant, just a couple of lines every now and then, but we got one hell of a ticking off from a druid across the way who insisted we should be chatting in /w not /s. He then spent the next god-knows-how-long /yelling about how rude and disruptive we both were...
Clearly I have no concept of etiquette and should be avoided at all costs lest I completely ruin your gaming experience :D

it yielded only 2 saronite ore...but he didnt know that...there might have been gems it in.
this has happened to me before...yeah i get %^&*ed, especially when your at 90+% when you get attacked...then someone comes in and takes it. I dont say anything after though...now, if i do get into a fight, i'll either fight while standing on the node or stun the baddie, mine the node, then go back to the fight.
another time though, after someone did that to me, i followed him, got to another node...where he got attacked trying to mine it...i went in for the easy mine lol...
usually though, if i see someone by a node fighting, i wait...after the fight, if they dont mine it, i go for it.

To the post maker: that you did was morally wrong, but he over reacted. Guess it is something you gotta live with simple, or try to make amend if you feel you should.
I have been ninja on veins i aggro a mob, someone just swops in. it is %^&*! but i never really ignored one for that.
My own thing i did was not farming really but more leveling. In grizzly hills there is a quest who is about you using a sleep arrow or something this makes this girl fall off the horse(
http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=12330
). So was there in the village during the start leveling time of northrend, Spotted the horse but was too late. Someone took it, so i waited for respawn and was about to use arrow on horse but that was wrong so someone else took it the second time. Then i figured out how to make it another player a dwarf hunter comes my spot i was clearly waiting at. He shots the humanoid before me, i said clearly before he did it. could see him circle the area. He was a bit nonchalant and did not answer so i got a bit *!@#ed i had waited several minutes. So i went ahead, mounted the horse. The hunter kinda natural got @#$%ed and whispered me alot of swearword and obscenity. Was in a bad mood, so i just replied thanks for the horse mate and ignored him.
Did i do wrong, ofc. Do i regret it? No i really do not, the horse would have respawned in a few minutes and the attitude of the player @#$%ed me off some. I think he still over reacted a bit, will not repeat that he said but it was not something you even says to someone who kill little babies.
well that is my bad moment.

Well, one of the people on my friends list was being REALLY annoying, doing nothing but sending *poke* and other little annoying messages constantly, so I decided to ignore her, and then not five minutes later, I've got three of her guildies whispering me, "Why did you ignore her?"
So I tell them that she was doing nothing but annoying me, and they just reply "Fine, keep her ignored, she never liked you anyways."
And I lol'd hard.
