Hello,
Here's what I'm trying to do:
As a healer, I want one macro to be able to cast an offensive ability on /assist then retarget my last target (/targetlasttarget). Now heres the tricky part; I only want it to do that when target=help; otherwise I just want it to /cast ability.
Here's what I've tried:
/assist
/cast Lightning Bolt(Rank 14)
/targetlasttarget
It didn't work, and after looking up
/targetlasttarget
on wowwiki, I learned that it doesn't take arguments. In my case the argument. So... my question becomes: is there an alternative method (possibly with lua?) to have a conditional "targetlasttarget"?

A buddy of mine helped me figure it out with reference to
http://www.wowwiki.com/Making_a_macro#Syntax_overview
.
Apparently "/assist", and "/targetlasttarget" are outdated. You can now use the modifier to achieve my desired functionality.
Here's the code that ended up working exactly as I wanted:
/cast Lightning Bolt

Yes, the advantage to this is, it never actually changes your target. I would use something like this:
/cast Lightning Bolt;<healing spell>
This would, if your target (or your targets' target) is something you can shoot, use Lightning bolt. If NOT, it will cast a healing spell on your target, or on yourself (I like to have macros always have some function, even if you have no target.)
(Alternately, if you don't want it to use a heal, you can put your lightning shield spell in place of the healing spell, and take out the stuff, since your shields are self-only.
