it's worth the few extra seconds to get him positioned. i use heroic throw as well, and run to my first spot by the water. as soon as i get my first SS off, i call out for dps to go.
don't try starting him up front, he'll cast scorch very quickly (in the wrong place), and then it's harder for the OT doing adds.
honestly, if your dps is not coordinated enough to wait for you to say "go", you're not going to get far...

I don't know if you want a different tanking strategy or not. The way we do it is to tank him in the middle of the room on the line that connects the North and South pools. I start out right in the middle with him facing east and everyone stacked up behind him on the west side of the line. When he drops the first scorch I strafe a little to the right. He stays pretty much in the same spot and I'm facing him North-East-ish.
When he starts casting the second scorch, I run through him and jump-turn so that when he's finished casting he's facing south on the line. I drag him a little bit to the south and then face him SouthEast. Just as he goes to cast the third scorch the first one is disappearing, so I return to the middle where the original scorch dropped.
Depending on how the healers like it, sometimes we have a dedicated tank healer hanging out on the east side, since the MT and the Kiting Tank are over on the east side a lot.
We use this tanking method in both 10 and 25 man.

So just watched the Tankspot video. That's a fine way to do it. My suggestion just puts all of the scorches on the one side (east side) as opposed to spreading them around.
