Computer Improvement!

Alright, so I'm tinkering around on
Newegg.com
, just checking out prices on things and looking to improve my own box.
More exactly, I'm looking to improve just my basic things, according to my friend my processor is fine among other things, but I'd still like to improve!
-I've got 550w power supply, runs smoothly and quietly, however it's got some... baggage, lots of extra cords meant for things I don't have or need, looking to find a possible improvement of watts and less baggage, as I've got a small box (case).
-I'm looking to improve my graphics/video card as well, not needed, but nice to run some of the more intense and better looking games. Currently have a GeForce 8800GT, runs most of what I play pretty well, but always room for improvement in the world of computers and graphics (I'm sure 12 different cards came out while I'm writing this).
-Most of what has been asked of before isn't exactly needed, however I'm only running on 1 gig of RAM, so anyone like to toss out their brand and the pricing? How it's working for you? Cause more RAM would be nice.
-Not positive what my processor is, as my brother has given me my computer and I never quite bothered to check or ask, as I'm no techy. So,
any
suggestions are welcome and appreciated! As well as explanations, I'm always open to learning as much as I can about how my box ticks.
These are just the ideas that are currently in my head, if you have any suggestions or questions, feel free to ask or even just post your current computer specs for me to go off of.
(Also, if this is supposed to be in the Help & Support forum, please move it, sorry

Only having 1G of RAM does hamper performance. I have 2.5G currently, but I am planning to replace the .5g that I have with another 2G. An Nvidia 8800GT is a good card; if WoW is your most graphically challenging game, you shouldn't really need anything better.
Yeah, it is a good card, but I'm planning on expanding my PC gaming beyond just MMO and RTS, currently I just bought Dawn of War 2 and it is not wanting to run well for me, so my goal is to get that to work, while simultaneously being able to play... oh, I dunno, Crisis.
Mind telling me how much that 2G card cost you? What brand? :o
Edit: Thanks Zaputo, I'll do so.
Um, not sure exactly what I'm looking for in properties though, but XP?
Edit again: I've got a Ibuypower computer, my brother had it custom made for him 2 years back from the site. This is considered the brand, right?

So, according to system properties:
Computer:
ADM Anthlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual
Core Processor 3800+
2.01 GHz, 1.00 GB of RAM
Physical Address Extension
Care to explain to me the first two parts?
Oh, I just found this one program a friend downloaded for me. PC Wizard 2008? Very convenient.

Yeah, I was told before I didn't need to upgrade my processor and was actually more looking to improve the things you spoke of. I know how to find my memory bays, but how do I find out the maximum memory per bay?
Also, do you have any suggestions on power supplies? Tons of cords + Small case = Extremely irritating and cluttering.

I actually have zip ties holding them together, and moving them seems impossible from the position they are in due to small case size:
Box
in comparison to my small hand.
Box
without my hand in the way.
Pretty small, and if you look closely, not a lot of room to move around, let alone a large batch of cords, and I don't trust myself or anyone else to drill a hole and stick them through, just seems easier to simply get a new one with less cords and more watts as a bonus.

Heh, no I manage with my back ones. It's not that I don't think I can handle a drill, it's the fact I am very careful and over worrying about things like that.
So, no hope to get a different power supply with less cords and more wattage? Or even just the same amount of wattage and less cords?
