Who else thinks that curse has gone to far by charging for a "Premium" service of their program?
Me personally I am thinking about boycotting their website and going towards only using wowinterface and ace. So whats your thoughts on this...

They're not forcing you to buy the premium. It's faster downloads, big deal.
Are you aware that WoW can cost 12.99 a month OR 14.99 a month? Should we boycott?

Ace IS Curse. They run on the same hardware.

1) Add-ons must be free of charge.
All add-ons must be distributed free of charge. Developers may not create "premium" versions of add-ons with additional for-pay features, charge money to download an add-on, charge for services related to the add-on, or otherwise require some form of monetary compensation to download or access an add-on.
Directly from blizz, this would fall under the services related to the add-on don't you think.

They're not charging you to use curse.com or the curse client.
There's a free client and a paid client. The only things a paid client gives you is it turns off the ads when you're at curse, and your addons download faster. You still have equal access to them and don't pay for them. The addons themselves are unchanged.

Back when they FIRST created the Curse Client, they said that once it was out of beta, it was going to be Standard/Premium. We all knew (or should have known) it was coming. The only thing that surprised me is the bandwidth throttling.
Time will tell if I get ticked off enough by having to click stuff individually and wait longer for downloads to pay them 30$/yr.

1. You're not being charged for addons.
2. Curse aren't charging you for their basic service - you can still download manually via your browser, or using the simpler features of their client.
3. The premium option is 100% choice - you pay for a bit of convenience.
Finally, who the hell are you to demand anyone give you anything for free? Curse (and WoWI, etc etc) don't get their hosting for free. Considering the amount of traffic they get, I think they actually deserve a bit of a thank you for bothering to set up the infrastructure that we enjoy and take for granted.
I use the basic (free) option because I don't mind updating one addon at a time instead of them all at once, but it annoys the balls off me to hear people thinking they're entitled to a service for free purely because they're used to it.
