Class Concept- Blademasters
This is my concept of a new class in the game. The Blademaster. While this was a class only befitting of an orc (most of which in Magtheridon’s fel orc armies),
Lantresor of the Blade (
WoWWiki) has forced himself to teach the way of this dying tradition and art (a little lore-unstable, I know). Any orc, troll, human, or night elf willing to learn his proud art is welcome to.
The three talent trees would be based on what weapon you wish to use and their respective roles.
Role: DPS
Energy type: Energy (without combo points)
Races: Orc, Troll, Human, Night Elf
Talent trees: Kendo, Sagari, Naginaju
Weapons: Two-handed swords (steady), two-handed axes (burst), polearms (slight AoE/steady)
Armor: Leather
Relic: Banner
2:1 AP stat: Agility
Here is a list of
some abilities of the Blademaster.
Blade Marks: These are kind of like the Blademaster’s combo points. They can stack up to 10 times on the target (increasing the effectiveness of certain abilities). Blade Marks last up to 30 seconds, but do not fade when a Blade Mark is placed on another target. A Blademaster can only benefit from his
own Blade Marks. A Blade Mark can only be placed on a target that was hit by a successful attack, meaning it doesn’t get placed if the target dodged, parried, or if the attack missed.
Kendo: Also known as the ‘way of the sword’, the Blademaster focuses his skills and teachings into using his sword to deliver precise and critical attacks.
Example abilities (These attacks can only be preformed when using a sword)
Shomen Strike – A strike to the head, dealing 100% weapon damage and has a 20% chance to silence the target for 2 seconds. This silence is not affected by diminishing returns.
Jogei Strike – A power attack dealing 150% weapon damage. This attack has a 5% increased critical strike chance. This attack places a Blade Mark on the target. (Next melee attack)
Hayasu – A quick attack that deals 60% weapon damage and causing the target to bleed 40% of the damage dealt over 6 seconds. This attack cannot be parried or blocked. This attack places a Blade Mark on the target.
Kote Strike – Strike the hands and arms of your target, dealing 75% weapon damage and disarming them for 8 seconds. (10 sec CD)
Low-Do – Strike the legs of your target, dealing 30% weapon damage, slowing their movement speed by 15% for 20 sec. Can stack up to 3 times.
Hiraki Strike – An attack that deals 100% weapon damage, plus 10% for every Blade Mark on the target. This attack has a 15% increased critical strike chance. (6 sec CD)
Sagari: This is the style suited for using massive two-handed axes in combat. While not dealing as precise attacks, this style prides itself on delivering heavy blows that can easily cripple an enemy.
Example abilities (These attacks can only be preformed when using an axe)
Great Strike – Delivers a heavy blow to the target, dealing 130% weapon damage. The critical strike damage bonus of this attack is increased by 30%. (Next melee, 8 sec CD)
Leg Sweep – Uses the axe head to knock your foe down and stunning them for 3 seconds. (6 sec CD)
Forceful Chop – An attack that deals 100% weapon damage. This attack ignores 35% of the target’s armor and places a Blade Mark on target.
Crushing Strike – A blow that also attacks the weapon(s) of your target, dealing 80% weapon damage and decreasing their damage dealt with melee and ranged attacks by 20% for 20 sec. The critical strike damage bonus of this attack is increased by 30%.
Grievous Blow – A strong strike that deals 100% weapon damage makes the target bleed (0.15*AP) damage every 3 sec for 3 mins, or until fully healed. This attack places a Blade Mark on the target.
Power Strike – A powerful strike that deal 200% weapon damage. This attack’s critical strike damage bonus is increased by 5% for every Blade Mark on the target. (15 sec CD)
Naginaju: This style focuses on the quick, sweeping strikes of the polarm. Be it a spear, halberd, or scythe, the long weapon is an extension of your arm and you use it well. A passive ability increases your melee attack range by 3 yards (normally 5) while using a polearm.
Example abilities (These attack can only be preformed when using a polearm)
Sweeping Strike – A strike that deals 100% weapon damage to the target and two other enemies in front of you. This attack places a Blade Mark on all targets hit.
Kote Sweep – An attack that deals 60% weapon damage and disarms the target and his closest ally for 8 seconds. (20 sec CD)
Piercing Strike – A powerful thrust that deals 110% weapon damage and making them bleed 30% of the damage dealt over 6 seconds. This attack ignores 15% of the target’s armor and places a Blade Mark on the target.
Head Slam – Slams the spearhead into the target’s head, silencing them and preventing them from using abilities for 10 seconds.
Whirling Sweep – A broad sweep that deals 120% weapon damage to all targets within melee range. This attack places three Blade Marks on all targets hit.
Whirling Fury – A rage of whirling attacks that attacks all enemies within melee range, dealing 130% weapon damage +(0.05*AP) damage for every Blade Mark on the target(s) every two seconds for 10 seconds.
Other Abilities (These abilities do not require specific weapon types)
Wind Walk – The Blademaster becomes stealthed for 20 sec and its movement speed is increased by 50% for the duration. If the Blademaster attacks a target to break the stealth, that attack will deal 50% increased damage and places a Blade Mark on the target (or an additional one). While the Blademaster is stealthed, its stealth and invisibility detection is greatly increased.
Mirror Image – Removes all harmful effects on the Blademaster and creates three copies of the caster that attacks the player’s target. The copies have the same amount of hit points and armor as the caster, but deal no damage. Their actions mimic that of the caster’s while they are active. Lasts 30 sec.
(Mirror Image does an action similar to when a hunter uses Feign Death, and the player/mob automatically deselects them, but Mirror image is not an aggro drop. The copies also generate lots of threat, so this ability has PvE uses)Bladestorm – The Blademaster goes into a destructive fury and deals 120% weapon damage to all targets within melee range every second for 10 seconds. While you’re attacking, you can move but you cannot perform any other attacks. While you are unleashing this fury, you have an increased 80% chance to be immune to spells.
Example BannersBanners will go in the relic (ranged) slot in the character screen, and will be the only relic you can visibly see on the avatar. They are very simple and usually don’t affect specific abilities, but something more broad.
Banner of Honor – Increases your strength by 10%.
Banner of Valor – Increases your agility by 10%.
Banner of the Horde/Alliance – Increases your stamina, strength, and agility by 5%.
Banner of Quickness – Increases your attack speed by 20%.
Final ThoughtsI tried to stay away from diving to deep into the arms warrior/rogue roles, but it’s the best I can think of at the moment. While a lot of this will have to be balanced and such, this could just be a starter idea. Also, if you liked this, look at my
Chronomancer idea, but please for the love of God,
DO NOT necro that thread. Thank you.
