is a nice starter ring along with
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=37642
to get you started in raiding, but as was said above the item budget spent on ArP is better spent on +hit or +str for a paladin. If you do craft the ring, don't waste a Dragon's Eye to get the socket bonus, go with a flat +16 str gem, unless you are going for hit cap then go for +16 hit (even if the socket bonus sucks.

First I should say this really is a great guide and has helped me out a lot. However I was wondering why in the guide he never puts any points into vindication? Now I understand the vindication debuff has some shortfalls (mainly that it's possible it won't proc until the mob is below 80% health) but there's an easy way around this. If I taunt a mob with hand of reckoning then vindication will proc. This means if you're 40 yards away you can immediately, using very tiny mana, cause the mob to go to 80% health and strength. If you are battleing multiple mobs you can just tab target and taunt to bring each one to 80% health without really doing anything. Currently my pally has absolute crap gear but if I taunt the mob and put a single judgement on it immediatley afterwards I normally can get the mob to below 50% health in a single swing. I mean who would put points into improved ret aura before something that badass?
The point is it seems to me that vindication is an absolute can't miss spell for leveling. Am I missing something here?

Because all raid bosses and the majority of trash are immune to Vindication, and any that are not only get the tiniest effect from it (due to the way NPCs have health assigned), same thing with the NPCs physical damage, as they have very little (if any) "Strength" stat it isn't worth it.
That is why I don't rate Vindication very high for PvE and leveling.

As I'm winding down in Afghanistan and coming home soon, I've gone back to RETLOL, and much to my dismay, some giant $%^&s had hijacked my website!
I've since fixed the errors, and updated the site to the latest patch.
RETLOL is back in action!

I switched to raiding part-time as Ret just about a week ago. I seriously wanted the RETLOL site at that very moment. :]

Just some feedback:
Crusade: PvP 4/5 AWs - "A flat 6% DPS increase vs all the creatures you meet in PvP is not to be laughed at, unfortunately budgeting on talent points may force you to skip this."
Two-Handed Weapon Spec: PvP 5/5 AWs - "This is among one of the finest damage boosting talents you tree has to offer, affecting auto attacks, Seal of Command, Vengeance, Corruption (as well as their judgement damage), Divine Storm and Crusader Strike."
Just being picky, but why is a 6% DPS increase not as good as 6% increased weapon damage, especially when Crusade impacts on Exo and Consecration as well? All things considered, if you only had three talent points left, shouldn't you be going for Crusade over Two-Handed Weapon Spec?
Still though, I like the guide :) Seems you've been around a long time ago - welcome back then!

To what? Crusade vs 2HWS?
Minor error - Charger is now trainable at 40 and no longer requires the epic quest to be completed (which is just as well, because the quest cost is 4 times the epic riding cost now :P)

To what? Crusade vs 2HWS?
Crusade is 3% to all damage, plus 3% more to DUH types. 2H weapon spec only affects our attacks that use weapon damage, so auto, CS, DS, and Seals.
With the best gear in the game and raid buffed against a DUH, Crusade gives 225 dps and 2H spec 177 dps. If you aren't attacking a DUH, 2H spec wins (Crusade is only 105 dps).

Yes, I know. That's why I specifically quoted the PvP ratings he gave the talents. PvP is always going to be DUH (except for hunter pets).

Yes, I'll admit that needs changing to 5/5 and 5/5. Unfortunately some of the proofreading was done after 12 hour guard duties, so I wasn't on top form :P
Anyone else picks up anything I've missed please let me know!

You've got AM as 0/5 AWs, and DiSac as 4/5.
Here
is my beef with that.
DiSac on its own no longer mitigates anything without also bubbling. And, while in a vacuum AM versus DS/DG is a very close comparison, you have to give up a lot of DPS to get DiGuard as ret.
You also have Divine Intellect as 0/5. While I don't disagree with that, you might want to make a note that it's the least horrible choice (by a slim margin) for ret paladins who want AM.
I think I just find it slightly confusing because while I disagree with almost none of your comments on talents once I figure out how you're considering them, I sometimes can't tell if they're being considered in a vacuum or as potential fillers to more important talents.
Despite my grumblings squeeee RETLOL is back! I forgot about this site and I'm getting a warm fuzzy wave of nostalgia now.

Yeah, I remember reading your guide ages ago it helped me back when I was first starting a paladin and kept me going.
*tear*
I'll look through it soon and see if I can spot anything else that may help you.

An interesting article indeed. I'll definitely look at it and update the guide as required in the next day or so. Got some feedback from the official forums too, and I'll mash it all together and do one big update.
