Thats because his conditionals are wrong. Try this:
/cast Holy LightIf you're casting the spell, you're pretty much automatically "Not dead", of course.
And you are also pretty much "Helpable" by default.
"Mouseover" doesn't exist, it's actually "mousefocus".

umm mousefocus doesn't exist... it IS mouseover. Also, nodead IS needed, otherwise it will TRY to cast the spell (and subsequently fail, rather than move onto the next part of the macro). Source:

/cast Holy Light
Should work fine. Make sure you're spelling everything correctly. If it still isn't working, split the macro into the following four macros and test each one, and let us know which one is failing, if any.
/cast Holy Light
/cast Holy Light
/cast Holy Light
/cast Holy Light
edit:
After giving this a little more thought, how are you firing the macro? Are you clicking it? If you are clicking it, and you don't have a target already selected that macro
WILL
fail. Mouseover will cast the spell on the target that is
currently
under your mouse cursor, so if you're using the mouse to click it, obviously you do ont have a target under your cursor.
If that's the case, either stop using the mouse to cast the spell, or we need to rework the macro to include a blank conditional to tell the macro to give you the 'target selection'

I was talking about
Hello? if you're CASTING THE SPELL, you're NOT DEAD.

Annnnyway...this macro will set your focus as the first "help-able" it finds, if you want to keep healing the same person without having to constantly move your mouse pointer to keep them targetted. (if your previous focus dies and it can't find one, it will heal you instead) - and it does need to recheck help, because you might have set a hostile focus earlier.
#showtooltip
/setfocus
/cast Holy LightAnd I looked it up...Mousefocus is the Scripting way to do mouseover, my bad...but that first macro was still botched.

I don't think this needs to be as difficult as these fellas are making it out to be, so...
So I know this is super-simple, but I can't quite figure it out. I'm lookin' for a macro to do mouse-over heals, in this order: if my target is friendly, on them; else, if my target is hostile, on my target's target; else, on me.
Mouse-overs confuse me. :(
...giving you exactly what you asked for:
#showtooltip
/cast <spell>
Or, more legibly...
(But, don't copy this one.)
#showtooltip
/cast
<spell>
Since you didn't specify where the mouseover should be active and where it should use normal targeting, I just prioritized mouseover.
Cast on...
Friendly, living
mouseover
, or...
Friendly, living
mouseover
's
target
, or...
Friendly, living
target
, or...
Friendly, living
target
's
target
, or...
Me (
player
).
