i found both innefective, so i start from nonstealth with rake or mangle as they are debuffs you really need on target, ravage/pounce are just energy waste...
Take his advice. Bottom line: Pounce or Ravage are solo / PvP abilities. In a raid environment they are only wasted energy.

Both Combat Rogues and Feral Druids can safely skip the stealth part and charge in with weapons and claws. The time you loose on the target dpsing, is not made up by using some opening move, its as simple as that.
I mean, if you average about 5k dps, and you use 5 seconds longer to get to your target than normally, you will have lost 25k damage (theoretical) and no opener can make up for that. ever.

Even when soloing I find Pounce / Ravage to be a waste.
Yes, the mob will die 2 seconds faster - but you spend a lot more time running up to mobs and trying to sneak behind them so in the end it just slows stuff down.

Not to mention prowl got a cooldown, so if you take down a mob fast and there is another one close, you might have to wait 1-2-3 seconds after every fight before prowl is up again, which would be about a minute wasted time after 60-80 mobs.

Or, to specifically answer the question:
Mangle, SR, Rake
Then, off you go with whatever else you can do.

Ya, my opener would typically be mangle, rake, SR, TF, zerker, shred-5cp, rip, watch debuffs.

I SR before Rake so Rake gets 23% more damage. I never have issues taking too long to complete my 5CP Rip and get enough CP to put a real SR up.
Preference, though, I'm sure.

Ya, to each their own. The difference is what, 200 damage to the initial if it doesn't crit, and you still get the benefit to all the bleeds.

Not really, im fairly certain that the bleed debuff from rake is based on whatever buffs you had when you applied it, meaning that if rake is used without savage roar, the entire duration of the bleed (3 ticks) will do damage unbuffed (besides mangle), regardless of whether or not savage roar is cast after.
