The reason is because PvP healing is hard, and not very rewarding. Most DPS think they are WoW's gift to killing things, and no healer could ever be better than them. So they talk down to you, blame you, and generally act like little punks on a nerd rage.
If you think finding a healer is hard, try finding a SKILLED dps within the flocks of noobs. Some have gear, and lack skill. Others have skill and lack gear/play time.
Basically, if you can find a skilled partner, or run with a guy that is flexible and intelligent and willing to learn the comp and strategies, you are golden. It doesn't really matter what class he is. You could play almost any comp that is two different classes, work on gear for a spec that compliments the other class, and start owning face.

S5 was a very, very bad season for healers. Also, there's always more DPS than healers, it's how raids are balanced, plus most players like playing a DPS spec a lot more than a healer(myself included). A lot of DPS don't peel for healers AT ALL either, so it can get very frustrating.
Find a healer who is less geared, but a decent player and/or someone you like to play with that can learn. Help them gear up, help them learn strats, etc.
Or roll a healer.

imo, it was worse for double dps teams, since they died before they could do jack squat.
True to a degree, but early in the season rogue / arcane mage was pretty much as faceroll as you could get other than dk / pally. Or 2x arcane mage...

As a healer, I do have to say it takes a bit more skill to learn then a Dps class. Everyone hates the healer, you will be CCed, and interrupted/silenced and have the crap beaten out of you on a regular basis.
Its also not terribly rewarding, there is no 'asskicking' factor and you frequently require a dps class to come 'save the day' should you be engaged in 1v1 combat (healers can last awhile, dont get me wrong, but in the end you will usually lose 1v1 to that scrubknight.)
There is a high level of blame placed on your role, nobody will blame dps for not hitting hard enough but you will sure as hell get a finger pointed at you for not healing enough (percieved or true).
S5 was a bad season for 75% of the healing classes, with the except of certain shaman comps, (shaman, hunter) . Paladins pretty much overpowered the others, with an insane amount of mana regen, great single target heals and a 12 second invulnerabililty. (it is very frustrating to fight a healer that during a 10 minute match has NEVER gone under 50% mana while you need to repeatedly find a quiet spot to drink.)
The only way your likely going to find a good PvP healer is by getting it through guild, or friends/family. (My 2s and 3s team is with my brother). They simply aren't puggable for the reasons I mentioned above.
In the end though, I enjoy the challenges the role brings. Go ahead and try a PvP healer yourself, you may find you like the experience.

I'm a retribution paladin, and play with resto shammy atm. He's from guild, and he's rather good imo.
What i can understand, is that he's stressed by playing. He's always under pressure, striving to survive, and besides various sacrifices and a hand of protection from time to time, i only have a dispellable stun every 40 seconds to help him out surviving.
Not only he has to survive, he also has to spam purges constantly on priest / druid teams, and toss a heal on me from time to time when i get focused. Can i blame him if he forgets to purge? Not really.... Will it cause us to lose games? Yes... But he already has alot to care aboout :/
I can see that all of the above can be a pain. There is people that likes to play a healing class in pvp only to /lol at you while you try to kill them, but those are very rare and often very arrogant.
What classes/spec did you and your brother reroll btw?
