A Tank who just had a bad moment

Ok so just recently i and a PuG made an attempt on CoS hc timed.
I am tank ofc and my gear mainly consists of hc drops, some AH epics, and Wyrmcrest revered rewards. The rest of the grp as far as i saw it had epic gear from raids, atleast some of it.
The problem however was that i could not really manage to keep aggro, i didnt mark any mobs but used AoE attacks like Thunderclap and Shockwave to control the mobs, i also made an attempt to frequently change targets to apply Sunder to them to better keep aggro on everyone, however it did not take long before any of the DPS pulled them(A hunter, priest and mage) one of them died, we wasted some time, and eventually we all wiped.
I told em sry for messing up and ruining it, but they seemed really upset about everything. I got kicked and they really gave it up, however Mage made a portal which only the rest of the grp could use.... -.-
So after that i didnt feel for playing for a while, so i went here to make a topic to ask other fellow warriors, what did i do wrong?
The thing is it really isnt normal that such things happen, perhaps grp may wipe once during a run but things went horribly wrong here and i wonder why?
Was the grp just way better geared than me, and thus generating much more threat than i am capable of holding? Or is it just me?
Edit: added armory link so ppl can better judge my situation

Thanks for the reply, im really relieved by hearing this now as it went down hard on me. But yeah i guess the group was a bunch of jerks, or perhaps yeah more of the types who expect every grp they are in to blitz every instances in 20 min... And i should be reading more on tank rotations as mine isnt very thought through.

The above person actually summed it up pretty well.
If you cant keep agro it usually means you arent using the incoming rage properly or/and arent using any type of rage dump.
Also forget switching targets to apply sunders, you are wasting too much time for it (and melee swings as well) they will die faster than you can do that.
Weapon is a bit low idd, but you should be flowing with rage on aoe due to low def gear, with proper berzerker rage and bloodrage usage it should be sufficient to make you cleave on every swing, while still TC/Shield slamming every cd.
I am not realy big fan of glyph of revenge either. It may be cool, but not for heroics, where most of them are thrash pulls. What it gives is 9rage every 6s. Not very appealing to me, where rage is not an issue.
Also for the pulls. Make sure you wait a bit with shockwave. Both to position mobs in tight bunch in cone before you, as well as getting somewhat hit before you stun them so you didint rage starve within the 3 s of stun. On aoes i usually charge in, followed by TC and shield slam, position and shockwave. Tc should be off cd by than and just begin to cleave spam, shield slaming and putting devastates here and there while revenge is on cd.
Dont switch targets! Focus on the one you want to kill first. In CoS the proper order is like Caster > Nerubian > Abomination > Ghouls

Mark. Mark mark mark. You don't have the gear to rely solely on AoE abilities and cycling through mobs.
Also, be sure to toss some enchants on your gear, you'll get a ton more out of them for a couple hunrder gold worth of mats.
And don't feel bad about it. It happens. But DPS doesn't get a free pass to just unload on any target as much as possible. It's their job to watch threat and make sure they don't pass up the tank.

Well again thanks for all the replies and such, but id like to add that i did CoS hc timed the day before and we were successful, we reached Infinite Corruptor with 8 minutes in margin and downed him pretty well.
As im just trying to aware ppl that im not totally lack of skill, but again hey thanks for trying to help and yeah its more like the thing that since we did it the day before very nicely, i was very confident when we did it this time and it ended as it did and yeah, im sure many here knows the feeling.

Your gear is ok, not horrible but you should be able to pull off a timed run. As for the group, did they advertise looking for a Geared tank for the timed run? I know when I first started doing timed CoS runs that groups were basically looking for Naxx geared tanks. Maybe they were upset that you we're as geared as the dps was and kept losing aggro.
As for your AoE tanking, target switching sundering is SOOO last patch. Why on earth are you using sunder armor anyways, we have devastate now! As Urlik said, you should be using cleaves and marking as you go. Bind your hotkeys to your mark targets and use those as you run through. A tank that can't mark 3 targets in 3 seconds is fail in my book.
Again for your gear, no enchants? You could boost your health a TON with just the proper enchants on your gear. If you are serious about tanking, spend the money and upgrade. You are on the right track but there's a lot you need to learn.

Reminds me of when I tried to guild run H AN after re-specing to Prot in Northrend. I went in proud in my heroics gear and everything. I did what I had done in a few heroics beforehand. I was wiped on TRASH. Twice. The group was Naxx+ geared. I eventually left the group for another tank to take over (it was a good parting - we both knew I just couldnt keep up, no bad feelings). Later on that day I started looking up tanking macros, builds, enchants and gear. I think I doubled my threat output just by doing that. I also burned a hole in my gold sack, but that's another matter :D
I also had an experience from the other side of the coin the other day.
Im now a Naxx-geared Tank. But my offspec is Arms. For my DPS spec lots of pieces have dropped in Naxx which I have won on off-spec roll, including 2 pieces of Tier 7 gear. My weapon is the Wrath Spear. I have gotten it all fully enchanted. I would consider myself a Naxx-geared DPS too in that case.
The other day I went into Heroic Utgarde Pinacle with some guildmates, with me as DPS. It was my first serious Heroic trying out my DPS spec. So we went in, I did some okay DPS. I would always hang back and let our warrior tank grab agro before charging in and then laying down the pain.
We got to the first small outside stretch. The first group pull of 3-4 mobs. So I charged in. I hit Sweeping Strike + Bladestorm.... finished spinning, and died a moment later... I had pulled agro, and goten beaten for that.
So then, Im a little more cautious. Up ahead I only trigger Bladestorm.... Pull agro again. I did check our tank - He was a Heroic-geared tank. His cycle was similar to my own.
In the end, I had to theorise that my gear was just too high to justify that DPS output (like 1500dps normal, but up above 2700dps with a group and bladestorm) with our Tank. After that I was more cautious, we went through fairly well, and downed the king. All good. But there was still the fact I was pulling agro initially. To which I reacted and held back. Which is what the DPS should do. Not complain about said tank.

I got the timed mount about a month ago. Yes this is completely normal. The dps sounds like they were aoeing the entire time. Best thing recomended an easy rotation. Charge, TC, shockwave, Cleave, devestate (or sunder, if you want to use sunder, get the glyph of sunder to hit it on 2 enemies at once.) If all goes well, you should have your mount soon enough.

just had a look at your armory page out of curiosity... but you were arms spec and in dps gear... on that note why on earth are you putting pure stam gems in sockets? if you really want the socket bonus go for purple gems, these have a hybrid variant of Str+Stam, much better for dps (tangent i know but mis-gemming bugs me)

Bladestorm + warrior/druid tank always seems to get me killed on trash. You can't wait to use it because everything is dead nor can you use it right away. Just hold it for single large mob pulls and bosses, it's not worth it for trash. Just use cleave or sweeping strikes. Gimped I know, but better than the 0 dps while eating dirt.
