I was the same when i was BM, and when i switched to SV and got use to the shot rotation i usually end up in top 3 in raids and usually top in heroics. If you cant put up armory for whatever reason tell us your stats, what is your hit ratting, what pet are you using? etc

BM isn't from what I have learned a dps spec. You CAN get good dps but it is meant more for having a powerfull pet. MM or SV is very good. (My hunter isn't high yet but friend is 80) My friend was always low on dps around 2k as BM was getting kicked because of her low numbers. She without changing any gear speced SV didn't even use the pet and the dps she put out jumped to 3.4k dps.

I have posted a whole huge post about BM raiding--and no one ever responds :P But I still see every week people posting more about how to do more damage as BM.
Here is the spec I use.
http://www.wowarmory.com/talent-calc.xml?cid=3&tal=512002015151122331005313510153051300000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
I have a mix of 25man, 10man, Heroic & emblem gear. In my last 25 naxx i did 4.3 on patch, and I still had my Runeblade of Demonstrable Power (which got replaced that run) and had not yet gotten my Darkmoon Card: Greatness.
I am usually top dps in my guild, only a mage or a dk comes close to me on boss fights, and a ret pally, and an SV hunter on over-all damage. (so clearly we are not an elite guild by any stretch of the imagination).
My advice:
Use a devilasaur. I don't like them, but the dps increase over a cat is substantial.
If you let your pet die--play another spec. Personally, I dont like it that MM & SV can do good dps with a dead pet (I think a hunter is THE pet class--and shouldn't be able to do much damage without one--but whatever).
On a related note, make sure your pet gets any and all advantages you can provide it. This includes pet food, and i even use scrolls on my pet in 10mans, where they might not get over-written, depending on group-makeup. More importantly--make sure your pet is getting ever situational buff he can, for example, make sure he gets the spore buff on Lothab.
Have a dual spec. There are many fights were blizz hates pets. You should have a MM or SV dual spec to compensate. Afterall, if you are doing a consistent 3.6K on most bosses, but drop to half of that on Heigan/Thaddius/etc, then your group is perfectly within their rights to replace you with someone who does 3.5 all the time.
Don't have too low a crit. Most BM have a miserable crit rating, but I find you get much lower dps. So I gem for agility instead of AP, and try to keep my crit around 30%--lower then SV certainly. Remember, your crits affect your pet crits, which procs a buff (though this buff is over-written by other classes).
The rotation/shot priority I use is Serpent>Multi>Arcane>Steady. the the priority is the last three, refreshing Serpent as nessesary. I blow BW as soon as my pet reaches the boss, and reapply it whenever I can. I also check the cd of BW, and make sure I have high mana when I am going to go into it, so if the cd is half over, and I am low on mana, I will switch to viper to be ready for increased damage.
If you are a good BM you wont do as much damage as a good SV or MM, but you will do more damage than a bad SV or MM. Pick whichever spec you enjoy/play best at. Personally, I am an excellent BM--but a poor SV, and a terrible MM

Arcane > Multi for BM usually.
The good news is-- you can use both! =D
Though if you lack Replenishment (say in a heroic or ten-man... it happens to me a loooot) using both Arcane and Multi can be quite the mana hog. In that case, stick to Arcane. *nodnod*.
At the orignal poster. Armory link would be lovely, I'd be happy to help ya. <3 There have been a lot of good ideas in this thread already. Mainly what we need to know is what your rotation is and what glyphs you are using. Remember, as a BM, it's a good idea to use a Glyph of Steady Shot and then keep Serpent Sting up. This will boost the (currently rather dismal) damage of your Steady Shot which still makes up a relatively large percentage of your personal (non-pet) damage.
Also be sure your hit is somewhere close to 260ish.
If you really like playing BM then don't do what other people tell you to do when they tell you to "spec to SV and watch the magic Recount numbers appear". Topping the charts as BM over SV hunters is possible and a fun hobby that I rather enjoy >.> *coughs*

Pets can't get the loatheb buff, or most similar buffs.
Saying to gem for agility is just plain wrong for BM. AP all the way. The benefit from crit to the hunter's shots is minimal, and the amount of crit transferred through cobra strikes is even worse.
Arcane > Multi for BM usually.
My pet shows the icon on lothab--I always assumed he was getting the benefit. But I can easily believe that what I assumed to be increased crit from the spores was, in fact, just the increased crit from me via cobra strikes
As for the gems, my spreadsheet showed an increase when I changed 2 of my red gems to agility, and one yellow gem from ap + haste to agil+ crit. However, I know you are never wrong, so I can only assume I did it wrong (very possible). Or perhaps it has something to do with more Mirror of Truth procs?
