As this is my first attempt at any sort of fantasy writing, any feedback is greatly appreciated.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Troen Faithhammer, Paladin of Stormwind, observed the battlefield with a keen, strategic eye. The area around Wintergarde Keep was teeming with the undead. Little solace could be found in the fact that the Alliance held the tiny patch of dirt on which sat the Keep itself.
Good men’s blood has been, and will continue to be, shed for every inch of land on this Light-forsaken continent
, he thought.
The tide of undead is unending, and for every hero that falls a new horrific soldier is added to the enemy’s ranks.
The scream of a villager in one of the homes below the Keep sobered Troen from his reverie. Gheists had been sent as the forerunners of the Scourge assault on Wintergarde and the foul things had trapped several innocent townsfolk in their homes. While he knew the possibility of being overtaken by the sheer number of the enemy was very real, the tenants of his beloved Light spurred Troen to action. Mounting his charger, the noble Resolute, the Paladin rode hard down to the home where he believed the scream had come from.
Arriving at the doorway, glowing mace in hand, Troen leapt from Resolute’s saddle and whispered a quick prayer to the Light, beseeching its blessing. Feeling empowered by the might of his faith he strode through the doorway, eager to deliver the Light’s retribution upon any foul Scourge that invaded the home.
“Paladin, help me! Please!” cried the poor woman who was cornered, feebly trying to fend off the gheist who was attacking her.
Feeling the power of the Holy Light surge through his body and into his palm, Troen raised a hand in the direction of the undead. It turned just in time to widen its one eye as the exorcism spell granted it true death.
“Come, milady. You are safe now.” said Troen, reaching out a gauntleted hand to help the woman towards the door. He whistled sharply and Resolute, loyal as always, trotted from the side of the house towards his beloved master.
“My steed will carry you to safety. Please tell High Commander Halford Wyrmbane that I remain in the lower area of Wintergarde to further defend our allies and strike against our enemies.”
The grateful woman nodded shakily and Resolute bounded away towards the safety of the Keep.

Very nice! The one thing that I don't like is that everyone these days seems to be choosing Scourge and DKs for a story . . .
:|
Still, it's a good story and nicely written.

I understand it can become redundant, Queggy, and I agree that the vast majority of stories are wrapped up in Death Knights and the Scourge. But surely you understand how relevant that is with the current plot in World of Warcraft. Unless the author wants to expand on or explain previous lore, the logical antagonist is the Scourge. Thanks for the feedback though, I really really appreciate it :)

Heh, don't worry, I understand. With Wrath out everyone loves Scourge, with BC it was the Burning Crusade.
