well everyone knows that the enslave on demons like doomguard lasts 2 min instead of 5 because of its high resist
does spellpenetration helps enslave last longer?

penetration does help. the resist rate of enslave is based on the demon's innate shadow resistance so your enslaves will last longer if you have some spell penetration.
that said, this shouldn't be taken as advice to use spell penetration. firstly, Spen is (generally speaking) a poor stat. it has some worth in PvP but very little in PvE and better enslaves would be a very bad reason to choose it. secondly we have curse of elements which reduces resistances by 165. i think i read once that a doomguard's shadow res is 75 so using CoE before enslaving will be more than enough.
also, if you want a doomguard do the quest and get the summon spell. getting one via CoD isn't the best way.

Spell Penetration has WORLDS of use in PvP... Nothing is worse than having your fears resisted by some bastard priest.

i'm not a PvPer but i gather the general idea is to get enough penetration to overcome the obvious buffs like GotW. to get enough SPen to overcome shadow prot would likely mean giving up too many more useful stats just to help against priests.
as i say, i'm not a PvPer so this may not be correct or current but it's what i had heard and it made a decent amount of sense to me.
either way, if you choose to take SPen on your gear, it shouldn't be for enslaving purposes.

In PvP, you don't really have "useful stats". Once you start getting geared, you need to go over a mental gear-checklist... One that involves asking yourself alot of questions that will NEVER have a positive answer. The trick is to answer the few questions that CAN have a positive as soon as possible.
For example, when I start gemming a new set of PvP gear, these are the questions that should be going through my head:
Do I have enough Resil? NO. You can NEVER have enough resil.
Do I have enough Stamina? NO. You can NEVER have enough stamina.
Do I have enough Spellpower? NO. You can never have enough spellpower.
Do I have enough Spell Penetration? I should have at LEAST 75, and at MOST 90.
Do I have enough Hit Rating? I should at LEAST have 3%.
So basically you need to get Hit and Pen "capped" as soon as possible. There is no true "cap" due to the fact that every class has talents and abilities that can increase their own resist and ability to be hit, however you always need to be able to hit a "normal" level 80 mob with a base resistance of 80 to your important school (shadow).
Unlike in PvE, we don't normally gem "pure" gems for PvP; you will be seeing alot of Orange (Spellpower+Resil) and Green (Stamina+Resil) gems. One of the FEW times when you see a "pure" blue gem is when you are gemming for Spell Penetration.
But I digress, spell pen should NEVER be used in PvE, and neither should an Enslaved Doomguard.

Unless you are a tailor (with
Lightweave Embroidery
),
Spell Pen
is the best cloak enchant for PvP. For PvE, you should roll with
Haste
. With the Spell Piercing enchant, you will only need
2 Spell Penetration gems
to be soft-capped.

Enslave was fun in BC, that damn place was full of demons.
i remember farming for the aldor honor in shadowmoon valley, and that poor elite got enslaved everytime he spawned.
so yeah just use Curse of the Elements before enslave, and get the
Glyph of Enslave Demon
to help re enslave them when they break loose.

Well, IMO if you're a Warlock with Engineering, you should be able to enslave a Felreaver.
I bet that would be a nasty surprise for the otherside if you brought one of those along to WG ;)
