There are two advantages to being dual specced:
1. you can switch from one spec to another depending on the situation;
2. you get an achievement.
1 obviously isn't a reason for you, as for you SV is one size fits all. If that's what works for you, then stick with it.
2 is no reason to waste 1000g. Epic flying or cold weather flying is a much better use for your hard earned cash.
IIRC SV is the best raid spec, but I am way too lazy to look it up right now. I'm BM myself and am thinking of speccing SV for raids. But I've read so much on the subject lately that I'm starting to get things mixed up.

Dual spec is a really nice thing to have. I have it on my pally (ret / prot) but not my hunter yet. If you dual spec as MM / SV you have to remember that the two specs gem & enchant differently. SV getting more from Agility while MM getting more from pure AP. So if you're going to do that for raids you'll need different sets of gear. A viable option would be to dual as BM & MM. Both thrive from pure Attack Power which means you can use one gear set for both sets. But, seeing as how you LOVE Surv (i dont blame you), i honestly dont see a reason for you to drop 1K on dual spec.

Hey fellow hunters,
I've been thinking abot laying down the 1k for dualspec, but only because I like the idea of having a farming/PvP spec..
I would think that it could be done as a
SV/BM
spec or a
BM/SV
spec, rather than my current SV/MM/BM spec, which gives the most DPS in raids.
Where the SV/BM spec would fit better with a PvP POV and the BM/SV spec would fit better with a farming/grinding spec..
Does this sound like a good idea to you?

Dual spec at 72 isnt worth it. However, when you hit 80, do your heroics, start raiding and find yourself doing your daily quests, you may find yourself with an over-abundance of gold.
There are many things to do with this gold, even after you have purchased the best BoE gear you can get your hands on. Some people save it for motorcycles and other "status" mounts. Some people power-level a new profession.
The dual spec is a great way to rid yourself of some of this excess coinage, that weighs heavily upon your backpack.
The only hunter spec I would say "needs" a dual spec is BM--so they can successfully raid in non-pet-friendly environments. However, there are many reasons you may decide, at 80, that you want one.
80 is comparatively boring. Getting geared for raids is sooo much easier than it was in BC, so you will be raiding faster. (With good luck on heroic drops, you can be pretty much ready start 10 man naxx after a week of heroics). Assuming your guild raids 4 nights a week, and you are sick of heroics & dailies, there isnt a whole lot to do. So you might find yourself getting into PvP--and you would want a PvP SV spec. Or, a lot of hunters are getting into soloing old-world bosses, or pet-tanking heroics. For this you will need a Pet-tanking BM spec.
