Do not underestimate Relentless Strikes.
Remember that time when it used to cost 1 talent point? Since then it now costs 5... and yet it's one of the best talents for a rogue to invest into

Its basically if u want to rely on the rng to get 25 energy ( whoo hoo) or get more crit and haste from the second build

Just to bump an old topic instead of creating a new one, does anyone have any info on the 51/18/2 spec and how it works out?
I saw it mentioned in the offhand swapping topic and got curious as to how effective the increased haste and crit are compared to the loss of relentless strikes? Has anyone tried it out before or seen any threads on the spec?
I searched the EJ forums but wasn't able to find anything, not sure if it has anything to do with limited forum access, and this was the only topic I could find on these forums.

Ahh, thanks for the reply Kytty.
It's too bad about the spec, I'd love to have an extra 10% haste, hehe.

Just wait until next Expansion - at level 85 those extra 5 talent points can get you 51/18/7, then you have the best of both worlds.
oh, and they will just rework all the talents to try to wipe all the passive talents, making them more appealing, and implementing mastery bonuses.
we'll need to wait and see the work.

I tried the spec and it lags behind the cookie cutter.
5/5 relentless strike pretty much guarantees a 25 energy.
10% haste is nice, but for daggers you are hitting the haste cap after applying slice and dice - I dunno if there is a haste cap, but seriously I never seen my weapon speed fall below 1.0. You may think that the 25 energy is not a big deal until you try it, you'll have less mutilate counts per minute. You'll find yourself out of energy sometime. 80% is not that much of a gamble is it for a 4 point Env? I dunno though, depending on the bonus from T9 set, if the energy procs from rupture is often enough, you might be able to to offset RS with it. Or if you decide to not use rupture anymore and just spam Envenom as your finisher. But if you plan to still use rupture in your rotation, you'll find yourself not having enough energy to apply rupture before it drops, or wait for more energy before you can do Mutilate after applying rupture. especially when Overkill runs out...The way I see it is that it's more affordable to lose Ruthlessness than Relentless Strike. That's my experience.

Yeah I've been looking at my recount energy regen and it makes up near 50% or so of my energy at times, so definatly a keeper.
As for haste, as jafa pointed out, it doesn't affect melee GCD, but I have no idea HOW nossy has never seen thier weapon speed go below 1 second. I have 450 odd haste atm with a 1.4 speed offhand, with SnD I think it gets down to .8 or .9, but with bloodlust or a speed pot it goes down to around .66 or so, I'm sure weapon speeds do have a cap but I've never wanted to waste a speed pot and try it out while I've been bloodlusted.
Just to edit my post, I found a screenie where I actually have used a speed pot while in bloodlust, sinister revenge and webbed death, 0.65 and 0.50 speed :S
