WoW doesn't require very fast internet. On the box it says 56k, so you are fine even with 1 Mbps =) (1Mb = 128KB)

WoW has a standby use of about 40 bytes per second uploads, and about 2 000 bytes per second download.
That was me idling in Dalaran though, might be even lower outside the area doing soloquests.

wait, 1 Megabyte = 128 kilobytes?
Mega = million
Kilo = thousand

1 Mb/s = 128KB/s
In this case, a lowercase b means bits, uppercase B means bytes. 1 Byte is 8 bits.
Theoretically, 56K(b) internet should be good enough to play WoW assuming minimal interference and no one accidentally picks up the phone. You should be fine with a 3Mbit connection. I've played WoW on a cellular connection before with no problems.

seriously? do you know if it lags much such as sketchy movement, delayed timing etc?
Bandwidth and latency are different things. Increasing your bandwidth will not necessarily lower your latency, especially if you had more than enough bandwidth to support WoW already.

I first started playing wow on verizon fios. Worked great! I then moved out into the country and things went to crap. Despite living in a rural area with many people living, the telecom companies are too cheap to lay or upgrade lines. I tried using a satellite dish service but that was spotty because of the technology. It was laggy in UC on a normal beautiful day weather wise. Yes weather could interfere with the signal. I didn't dare try to raid with it. Then I tried dial up and that sucked too.
I then started using a wireless broadband card. That worked pretty well but there were spots in my house where I couldn't play. I then got an antenna that plugged into the side of the broadband usb modem. That allowed me to play wherever in the house as long i was close to a window to attach the antenna to. I was able to do 25 man raids in WOTLK with the occasional lag spike but that was only once in a while. I would be at a consistent 400ms latency with this package. Sometimes it would dip into the 200ms or be around 500. The downside of the broadband card was the usage. I would always go over the monthly 5gb limit and it wasn't unusual having an OVERAGE bill of $200-300 dollars a month when I was raiding on my 3 toons both 10 and 25 mans. I was employed and made decent money and could cover that, but after I lost my job that internet service had to go. Along with it was WOW.
I still had one more month on my subscription when I switched over to sprint. My phone is an LG Optimus S and it can create wifi hot spots. Which I'm using now as I'm typing this. It has unlimited data and only costs an additional $30 dollars a month to use this. I tried going around Org in the middle of the day and my latency was about 1400ms. Now I only get 1 or 2 bars on 3g coverage out here in the country. I gave up and logged out. I suppose if you live out in the country and get better signal this could be an option for you. However if you live in town you are probably better off getting a regular DSL service.

Zalambar touched on something important to recognize, high bandwidth doesn't always mean low latency. I would say in most cases though 3-5mb is going to give you what you need, but also make sure you pay attention to the upload speed offered. There is a dsl company in my area that offers 10MBps download and 2MBps upload, which is probably better internet than what I currently have which is 15MBps down and 1MBps up since it has more bandwidth to talk back to their network so it would have lower latency overall. Just make sure you are getting something like 3Mbps down/1Mbps up or better and WoW will run great. I usually hang around 50ms to 70ms latency, even in Org. Also for your best speeds, don't use wireless on your computer that you intend to use for WoW...try having the router installed near your PC so you can plug it in without getting a huge wire to string across the room or house.

Your ping is in milliseconds, (1 thousand of a second is a ping of 1) and represents the amount of time it takes your input to reach the server, so anything less than 200 should feel smooth, but i may be extremely picky, due to having the fastest internet available in the country, I'm rarely over 20, most of the time below 10ms, but I'm sure you can have 400ms and still play smoothly, but the lower the better.
