If you have doubts about the IPs listed in the wiki page, connect to your favorite server, open a command prompt and fire off the following command:
netstat -b -n
then take the IP address listed that is being used by WoW.exe and run a tracert on it. It will inevitably hang once it hits the firewall of the associated data center.
Using the World of Warcraft: Active Subscriptions chart featured here (
http://www.mmogchart.com/Chart11.html), would it make sense, from a geographic standpoint to try and build a data center, in one physical location, to try and facilitate an estimated 7,500,000 non-domestic (2m for Europe and about 5.5m for Asia) connections as well as an approximate 2.5m local connections? Only 4% of their market is in the US...
