Armor Pen effects our Auto Attack, Divine Storm & Crusader Strike as they are weapon damage (last I heard), so it's not entirely useless, but you need quite a bit of ArP to really see a DPS difference. Also, Warriors were changed to reap the benefits of Armor Pen. Since we share plate with them & DK's, it's going to be on the gear. Also, remember that all Warrior attacks are physical, so armor pen effects all of their abilities.

I don't think we're getting screwed, it will be buffing 3 of our attacks. You're still correct in the fact that it's not a great stat for us to be stacking. Do you remember the old days of BC where the top DPS Ret Pallies and Fury Wars in T6 & Sunwell were wearing Leather but gemming for Strength? That might be what we're heading towards again. Sure it's cool to wear your actual armor class, but in raids wear what gives the best dps, who cares about armor. (I apologize if I got off subject lol)

I wouldn't say that we're screwed for itemization.
ArP isn't great for paladins, but it's not bad either. It's just a mediocre stat that you might not want to gear or gem for, sortof like haste rating.
If you stumble upon on ArP whilst upgrading, that's great, just dont value it higher than most other stats.

I honestly don't like the Emblem Belt
Verdungo's Barbarian Cord
because of the haste and my lack of Expertise from my current plate so I use
Sharp-Barbed Leather Belt
(from Hero UK) with a Buckle and two +16 Strength Gems. Now that belt gives me Crit from Agi, Raw AP, AP from Strength & Expertise.

Dont think like "I have a good 213 ilevel chest with all the stats I need, oh a 219 ilevel chest with unatracctive stats but slightly more str dropped, I ought to get that"
What I'm trying to say here is that you should look on items as a whole and how well they correlate with the rest of your gear, and judge them accordingly.
Edit: Undless it's really, really
really
worth it, never wear leather/mail, their entire stat weighing system is conpletely different from ours.
