That is a very ignorant statement TheMediator.
No its not. Its totally true. The world population couldn't sustain itself without the aid of fertilizers, medicine, etc. etc.
He didn't say that his religion is superior to science. He just stated that he wouldn't be who he is today without religion and he believes that has done more for him than science ever will.
You cannot tell someone what has had the most impact on their life, only they can tell you; in MyTie's case, it's religion.
You are unaware that there is more to life than just being born. Being born is where life starts, but not where it ends and that is where you are making your mistakes.
Try again.
MyTie, you would never have been born if it weren't for science. You wouldn't exist. So, no, your religion is not superior to science.
Now, read that, and try and somehow argue that if he didn't exist, how religion would somehow help him more.

You're arguing for the sake of arguing, aren't you?
No, I think you are. You're trying to argue a totally illogical point of view. That, to me, would seem like you're just arguing to try to argue. All I'm saying is, if you're going to argue, at least argue something that makes sense.

It does make sense. You're being ignorant to the fact that there is more to life than being born. You are basically arguing semantics.
Yes, if we look at
just
that 9 months where he was being concieved, formed within his mother's uterus, and born, then yes, science obviously played a larger roll. Now, if we look at the
bigger picture
, which includes the next 20-30 years of his life (however old he is), that's where you can tell which of the two had the larger
impact
on his life.
There is more to a person than some sperm and an egg. He did not state that religion was superior to science. He merely stated which has
helped
him more along his journey so far.
Being born helped him get his life started but it did not help him keep himself alive. I assume that you're going to say carbs, proteins and fat are what kept him alive but you'd be wrong. Those may have kept him physically alive, but not mentally.
Look at the bigger picture.
Oh my god, try !@#$ing again. You aren't getting it in your head. Read what I said.

I read it, and once again, he did not say religion was superior to science.
Would you like to try again?
To this day, Christianity has helped me more than science has.

I think we're done here. You seem to fail to grasp a basic concept, so there really can't be any discussion.

You think being born safely is the only thing science has done for you? Look at the bigger picture.
Using the viewpoint expressed earlier on, if MyTie was, assuming he was one of the more idiotic youths, such as are growing up today like weeds, and he was thinking about suicide, you think that knowing what kept him alive and such would help him prevent wanting to commit suicide?
As I see it, this is an invalid approach, and rather foolish on your part.
Religion gives him something to believe in, not to know as "fact." This, in the scenario, would give him a mental support, driving him away from suicide, and making him wonder what he wanted in his life. He would not want to be a hypocrite, or a fool, or any of that. He would want to experience life, not just to think that he did, and giving up.
Sorry if this viewpoint is somewhat offensive to you, MyTie. Just a bit uncreative as of now, I'm rather tired.

He is taking one minor aspect of life
I can tell you're just trolling. Your entire life is dependent on existing, its hardly a minor aspect.

I'm an atheist, but I don't usually tell anyone. I once did, and they refused to talk to me anymore, believing whatever I said was tainted by the Devil.
Ironically, I find religion to be fascinating, probably because I wasn't raised around it and I'm not familiar with the teachings.

I thought the Holocaust was due to the fact that Hitler needed a scapegoat, not his delusions.
In the Christian view, I don't believe that there's anything wrong with telling people that they are going to hell, after all, that's the truth as defined in the bible, rather it's the intentions that the people have when they say it, like others have said.
When you're spreading the gospel, you shouldn't make the other person feel uncomfortable, that goes against the "good" part of "good news".
Believe it or not, Christianity requires you to stop being an &*!@#$%.
Believing that someone is going to burn in hell for eternity because he doesn't share your religious views seems kind of
&*!@#$%
-ish.
