And I'm not too sure why. I'm a great healer as disc or holy, but I just can't knack of the dps game. I'd love to be a succusful dpser for on fights when we don't need as many heals in my guild.
On a dummy with no buffs, I can hardly hit 2k at some points. But In raids, Heck I've gone up to near 4k. I'm not sure if it's random or raid buffs that make the Spriest.
Anyways, I've got the rotation down. VT > DP > MF > Pain > MB > then do the priority system.
I just can't seem to keep up with others when it comes to damage.
So if people just answer a few questions, that'd be lovely. For quick work trash fights, should there be some moves I just ignore, Like pain or VT on quick single kills? And when does mind sear become viable to dps with on large trash, I see other casters spamming aoe and overloading the meter, but mine seems like fail at times. One last thing. I know hit is the priority stat until you're capped, but does it provide any other benefits, besides
Hitting
, like excess SP, or regen, or anything I can't think of?
Thanks much, I'll be back later to check this.

I wouldn't worry about Trash dps. Boos dps is important.
4K dps is a nice number to hit, so i think your hitting yourself a little hard saying you fail at shadow, otherwise you would be pushing 1k dps.
8% hit is the cap. If your dre then its 7% due to your aura. Shadow has a complex opening rotation to get the most out of your spells. Usually mind flay for max buffs and debuffs on target then follow up with SW:P when you have max shadow weaving.
The sticky for shadow is pretty good so read up in it however i think your doing just fine

Yea, thanks for all the insight. But what I meant by 4k was, random good spikes of lucky crits, or just an overflow of AE sort of situations. And my gear level is Naxx25 Geared, just got maybe a few naxx10 items still. But alot of it is healer gear, I just put on a couple pieces with high hit to bring my % up. Will I be hindered too much If I do that, or should I focus on nabbing overall dps gear?
Only reason I say I do bad, is because I don't have too much experience as shadow, on a dummy, and to a boss totally different, and I'm not sure how much of a gap that is. My guild is at the clearing Ulduar level at the moment, so I feel the need to be able to pump out some damage to be efficent.
One last thing though, for short mob kills, that last for about 10 seconds; should I do to kill them? Just spam mind blast and MF? Or should I try to stick to having my dots up. Just trying to improve my game.

What he ment, was before looking at your talents. You get 3% from Shadow Focus and 3% from misery. That's a free 6%, so
11%
would have been a better number for gear, 289 >290(w/o dranei love). Any more hit really isn't needed and you should focus more towards spellpower.
That number appears nowhere in his claims. 8% is wrong no matter how you look at it.
Just to defend my post here. I've been leveling and tanking on my DK and haven't really touched my priest. 8% is the hit cap for a DK tank. That's where the number came from.
