Well, so i guess you didnt have a single frost DK in your 25man group? then yes, you might support the raid. If you had a skilled DK - no, you didnt support the raid.
Actually, there a few classes that are "required" in raiding environments. there are alternative to almost every buff now and its a good thing. edit: just found a nice list:

Being melee is another reason why i quit playing as enh. Elemental is just as good, i can even use some stuff with my healing gear.
btw, i love my ulduar group for having as less melees as possible... its just not the game for melees anymore (?), but thats another thing.
if you have more than one enh-shaman, your raid setup isnt good :) it was a pain to get a spot...

I was a raiding enhance shaman in Burning Crusade. We had all sorts of aggro issues, but at least when played and gemmed right we could get into top 5 dps in a raid, if played correctly. However we almost always had problems with threat, now with the new upgrades in Wotlk we no longer have those problems and with the new adjustments there is almost no worriest about cross gearing or anything. Now I will tell you this much. The problem now is that while the enh shaman's dps didn't scale with the new upgrades, they used to be unique in the buffs they gave, and so you paired them in your dps group, now with raid wide buffs around the enhance shaman is no longer needed, all of their buffs can be replaced with higher dps classes. I have gone to frost dk, my dps is higher and with Horn of Winter and imp icy talons I have replaced the two most important enhance totems and doubled the dps. I miss the playing style of my shaman, but my dps and life expectancy is more, plus I can tank with the dk. I hate to say it, but I can't see the advantage in playing my shaman anymore, unless I want to heal.

I'm sorry but I am in half heroic half leveling gear and I am always #1 or #2 dps. When I wasn't a shaman I always wanted one in my group. My alts are 80 warrior, warlock, rogue, and DK. On everysingle toon I always wanted a shaman in my group.
Some shaman are bad and selfish. My SoE totem drops better stats then HoW. Flametongue benefits me and casters. Mana helps me and casters (healers love me for both of those). Cleansing totem is just amazing. Wrath of air is priceless.
Come on guys just be better.
If you are #1 or #2 in dps either you aren't in Northrend yet or the dps with you stinks. Your SoE and WF may be better than what a frost dk can provide, but it's marginal at best, compared to the dps loss. Flame tongue and Mana spring are better from shaman healers or elemental. It's not that shamans are a bad class, they are a ton of fun and if played right can be excellent aids, but they are limited and don't scale well. Enhance has been blindsided just like they were pre BC alot of the problems were fixed in bc, and then they screwed them again in WoTLK. I have yet to meet an enhance shaman who can out dps any dps class if they all have the same gear level and skill level. You might be good, but I can't believe it unless you post your dps charts and what level you and your raid partners are.
I am a huge enhancement shaman fan, I love the class, and am upset that they have once again been relegated to the waste heap.
