I'm hoping to get some alternative ideas here for the Auriaya fight, as our 25 man team spent all night working on her and only got her down to 45% (with three minutes left on enrage- is that even possible with 5 mil HP left?) I was really hoping to kill her in one night and move on.
Suffice to say, I've spent all day at "work" reading, rereading, and trying to figure out alternatives to getting folks to break out of the fear in time to stop her Setinal blast. It's giving me a migraine at this point.
As far as we can tell from our raid composition, counterspell does NOT work. Nor does the paladin shield-associted slience caused when you throw it.
What does work is-
mind freeze (DK ability)
kick
Annnnnnd that's it (?).
We had four priests last night and one shaman, two rogues. Yes, our raid comp is a little odd, but bear with me here. Various other DPS and healers. We had a fear ward rotation up on our primary rogue, so he was able to kick the first four (tremor totem NEVER seemed to break any fear by the way). After our fear wards were down, he was able to every-man the fifth fear. I think we got another fear ward up. After that, the other rogue everymanned. And then we died on the next blast because there were no other cooldowns up. (that was our 45% attempt).
That seems kind of ridiculous. I must be missing something here. Do most folks rely on tremor totem? What other abilities will work on stopping that setinal crash? It seems like after two blasts you're dead, period. So a slip-up or a missed fear ward would destory the group.
I am aware that prot warriors gag order will work- we don't have any prot warriors (we actually don't have any warriors normally. Long story...). Also, only one of our DKs has Lichborne.
How many times do folks usually kill the Defender? We were trying for 3 kills and then ignoring it. Should we go more or less?
I'm totally willing to be pointed to other guides if folks have a good one. I've looked at a lot already, though.

We've never had any problems with tremor totem other than occasionally it pulsing right *before* the fear: the shaman can recast tremor totem right before the fear is cast and it should pulse right after.
Also, Shaman Earth Shock DOES work for interrupting the cast. So does any other "interrupt" mechanic. Silences don't, generally.
It sounds like your DPS is really low if you only had her at 45% by the 7th fear. Maybe try dropping a couple of the priests for classes that bring dps buffs to the raid?

Beggars can't be choosers, though our makeup for lastnight was rather strange due to holidays and some folks locking other characters.
I can't figure out how to get any more DPS output from our group though. They're all on-par. I've looked at other folks' numbers and we're at the right level. The fear is cast every 15 seconds, isn't it? Do you not focus on the defender at all? Are you running a low amount of healers? (four or five?). How many guardians are down before the first fear?
These are the sorts of things that, unfortunately, I'm looking for and can't find answers to.

our guild use this strategy.
You have a mt and 3 off tanks(one of the offtanks recommended to be a paladin).
We mark up all 4 panthers in start.
The MT pulls the boss and gets all 4 panthers on him, so use Bosacri, priest pain supression etc to make it easy to MT to stay alive.
THe paladin tank takes two of the mark. the other two ot takes one and then they stand spreaded from each other. You nuke down one of the paladins panthers first and then you take his second target he had. Kill of the panthers in a specific kill order.
Okey now all panthers is dead all grp up at the MT so her blast attack does not one shot him. We aoe down the small panthers while the paladin off tank takes them. THen the sentinel panther spawns we have one of the off tank to grab it and try to maintain aggro on it while we nuke it down. We announce then it is about to die and then we move into another room so we are far from the void zones. We always nuke auriya then no panther is up so keep killing it. WE do it again on the second panther so we kill it and leave a zone. The third panther we leave up and just nuke the boss.
Always drop fear breaker as totem and fearward on MT and always stand infront of the boss with the MT. Remember to use the room and move away from any void zones who will get created.
The boss fight is simple and i recommend tankspots videos on youtube for more encounters.

Berserker Rage
. Useable in any stance, lasts 10 seconds, makes you immune to fear. It doesn't have to be a Prot warrior who does it. DBM timers on the fear are pretty good and with a 10 second duration you have a bit of leeway. Have your warrior pop berserker rage right before or during the fear cast and he'll be standing in position ready to interrupt the Blast.
I warrior MT this fight usually, so I'm the one that always does it.

I am aware of that tactic, and it is a fantastic idea, but we have no warriors. None. Zip.
I'm going to work with the shaman prep-totem and earthshock thing though.

We have all of the Sanctum Sentries dead before the first fear.
The fear is on a longer cooldown than 15 seconds, I think it's 30 or 45.
We ignore the defender, except when he gets low on health we have a DK run out of the group, grip him, and someone stuns him while we kill him so that the void zone doesn't get dropped in the group. This isn't an option for your group makeup so just accept that whenever he dies from incidental AoE you'll need to move.
You could also have one of the rogues stunlock him if needed: he's highly stunnable.
As long as everyone is grouped up nicely, the defender's damage isn't too bad, though, quite healable for us.

There's a common misconception with counterspells that have a silence component : when people use them on a boss that is immune to silence (most of them), they'll see an "immune" message pop up. However that doesn't mean that the counterspell failed, just that the silence part doesn't work.
Regarding the Defender, don't focus it. Either you'd want to kill it swiftly 9 times before taking the boss on (appart from the achievement, there's not much point to that) or you ignore it. When ignoring it, it will take AoE damage anyway so how you handle it's inevitable death is one thing (move the raid or get the defender out), but basically there's no reason to kill it a set number of times before moving back to the boss.
