In the past few post's here i made some bad Ideas. I am
sorry to waste spots in the forums of lore. I am sorry
for producing eyesores . This will be my best idea. And if it fails
i wont post anything classwise again.
So what i will be talking about is the
Ranger
. What most
people would think is this : "sigh just a Hunter without a pet".
I have to say they are quite more different.
Why?
First of Rangers dont use
Aspects of the wild animals
and have
Stances
Rangers are much more capable in melee combat than hunter.
Rangers are usualy set up in walls and sometimes enemies climb
and a ranger must be capable to take them out.
Rangers don't have combat pets
Rangers dont use traps
Rangers are better at using their bows
Rangers use energy and not mana
These are the basic differences.
Lorewise : Realy do i have to mention the use of archers in wc?
And the rangers of both elfes and Night elves? Tyranda can be
called a ranger (based of her skills using a bow of course)
Now lets get into details
Class Name :
Ranger
Races :
Humans , Night Elves , Orc's and Blood Elves
Armor : Lether and Mail( talent)
Energy type :
Energy 150/150 regeneration rate
is slower at lower energy values meaning .That
Energy recovery below 50 is 5% per
Between 50 and 70 is 6%
Between 70 and 100 its 8 %
Between 100 and 150 is 10%
the percentages of recovery*
Other unique features are
stances of the ranger
Note that i would like beter naming as i cant come up with very
good ones
All stances have a 5 sec cast and cant be cast in combat.
Snipe Stance :
Decreases the armor of the ranger by 50%
while increasing his range by 20 yard and damage of all
ranged attacks by 18 %. Dazed when stuck. Increases casting time of ranged attacks by 25%
Raiding stance :
A stance focused on shooting the target
in close range while moving. Reduces armor by 15% . Increases
movement speed by 10 %. Melee strikes cause you move 1% slower for 10 sec (stacks up 20 times). Haste increased by 25%
while shooting
Assassination stance :
Focuses on using the attacks to draw
his opponents and when at melee range to spank them.
Increases melee damage by 10% armor by 5%. Ranged attacks
deal 10% les damage while casting time increased by 125%
Talents Trees:
Raiding/Assasination/Sniping
(better names would be cool but
nothing slick comes to my mind)
Sample Skills :
Sniping :
Long Shot :
An ranged attack from a high range. This
attack deals X physical damage. There is a 65% chance to hit
another target withing 30 yard of initial target. Deals good dmg
70 yard range may cause arm cramp debuff for 10 sec silencing
you for 1.8 secs (65 energy 5 sec cast)
Sniped Shot :
High precision shot at a vital spot .
Deals heavy damage and causes the target to bleed
for an additional 10% of the damage caused can be used from 35 yards .(45 energy 5 sec cast 1 min cooldown)
Arrow Rain :
Shoots a rain of arrows to the enemies withing
20 yard radius .This attack does low damage but fears the target
for 4 seconds and increases attack power of fellow party members by X for 10 seconds (45 energy 10 sec cast channeled)
Knockback Shot :
Shoots an arrow with an explosive charge form
melee range knocing him back 20 yards dealing x damage(including fall) Damage is dealt to the enemy as well.
(45 energy 1 min cooldown instant cast)
Flame arrow :
The rangers lights his arrows on fire. Dealing
an aditional 2% fire dmg with all ranged attacks. lasts for 40 seconds
(uses some reagents and have 5 min CD)
Raiding :
Hurricane shot :
Shots a fast arrow dealing moderate dmg.
(casting time 1 sec no cooldown can be used while runing)
Low Shot :
Shoots an arrow at the legs of the enemy
making them move 20% slower for 5 seconds.(25 energy instant cast 1 min cooldown)
Back Shot :
shoots an arrow in the back of his enemy .
This shot deals heavy damage while all healing effects on the
opponent are reduced by 25%.(70 energy instant cast only used form behind 10 sec cooldown)
Fire!
: A battle cry that increases spell and ranged attack power by X for 60 minutes (100 energy instant cast)
Assasination :
realy need a beter name for this :S
Ripste o:
An attack that becomes available after parrying.
Deals good damage and exposed the enemys target(30 energy)
I know its a rouge skills but rangers shoulb be able to pull it off
Wild Slash : Slashes a target with a wide swing dealing heavy damage but has low succes chance (35 energy 10 sec CD)
Throat Cut : Wounds the target dealing X damage of 20 seconds
Grim Cut : Slashes the eternal organs of the enemy bleeding him
for another 20 secons
Throat and Grim share cooldowns and use 45 energy and have a 50 sec CD. Grim Cut does more damage and Throat cut does less but ignores damage
I didnt have any good creativity while thinking of the skills.
But i would like comments more on the concept

Yep i noticed the typo :S ,didnt see that coming.
Delterius you are refering to sentinels. Sentinels use druidic magic.
Ranger are closer towards using arcane DMG.
As for Haxzor , i check up Warhammer to see if i am wahemmering much. Seems my idea is closer to this "Shadow Hunter". But anyhow i think Rangers/Sentinels could be a good aditionl.
A hunter cant be considered a ranger, simply because he uses his
gun/bow for hunting and is more trained at figthing against beast.
Rangers on the other hand are trained to aim at spots to kill
humanoid. Including to shoot at the open spots of Amor.
Note that arrows are supposed to easily shater mail as it goes through the Iron stitches , plate on the other hands will block the arrow head

Sorry, I do agree with this though.
Just....check on existing lore before making class suggestions that contradict the lore.

Sounds like a good idea at first, especially because of the massive support of petless hunters in WC3. I have, however, found a few problems with it.
#1: "Rangers are much more capable in melee combat than hunter."
No. Just no. RANGErs means RANGE. Not melee.
#2: Your stances are almost identical to the Shadow Warrior stances in WAR. Not that I really argue that, but if these were to be used in WoW there would be some lawsuits involved, I imagine.
Snipe Stance=Scout Stance
Raiding Stance=Skirmish Stance
Assassination Stance=Assault Stance

#3: The way I look at it, there are some cosmetic problems with the abilities. For example...

When you hear "Hurricane Shot", wouldn't you expect it to be an extremely powerful arrow that rips through multiple enemies? I don't hear that name and think arcane shot.

No. Just no. RANGErs means RANGE. Not melee.
The standard definition of a Ranger usually enables quite potent melee-combat, in a style such as the rogue, but no near as powerful (atleast, that's the general understanding of the Ranger-class). Their power is naturally in their ranged abilities.
Why? They don't rely on a pet to do the melee for them, which is what the hunter is based on.
