Basically, they are taking away the ranged slot, and turning wands into a main hand weapon, just like the mace off Morchok. Blizz still like staves, since Inscrip can make a very awsome caster staff they are showing they want us to use them.
So if you want to xmog that staff, go ahead and do so.
