Thanks for the gross oversimplification of why an unholy build is better off with SS. Unholy is better off with it because more of the talents in unholy benefit SS, and the shadow damage is multiplied by Ebon Plague. The RP generation won't matter that much if you don't have a good RP dump (gargoyle is nice, but when that's on CD you're generating RP just for DC, whereas you could get more benefit by having UB or FS in the respective trees). Also, if you like crit, why not get guile of gorefiend?

I'm not saying that "OMG SS is sooo much better, it's SHADOW DMG!" but that they're about equal, and talents like Ebon Plague or GoG are what pushes it in favor of one over the other.
