I'm looking for a spec that would be suitable for both PvP and farming, which are the two things I plan on doing most at 70. PvP would mostly include bg's at the beginning of my career, so I can gear up for arenas.
I assume everyone would say SL/SL is the best for this, but I was playing around and I came across this build.http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=Iq0rVRfpqtboZxx0tb
Is there anyone that could tell me why this build would not work as well as another (such as SL/SL or felguard) for the things that I am looking to do.

You have correctly identified that deep UA affliction is an excellent all round build that works for farming pvp (and pve raids too if you ever go that way).
However i think there are a few wasted points in your build that could be better put elsewhere.
Devastation - no need for this. DoTs are the cornerstone of your dmg and they don't crit and the average resilience you will face in BGs will swallow up this crit bonus completely (and then some).
Intensity - no need for this either. When farming just go easy so your Void Walker holds aggro and there will be nothing to interrupt any Shadow Bolts you want to throw in. In PvP, if you are being hit and want to do dmg uninterrupted, don't cast destro spells, channel Drain Life instead. And you already have the awesome Fel Concentration talent for that.
Shadow Embrace - the dmg reduction of 5% is only really useful in a raiding situation where the tanks take so much damage for so long that 5% will be tens of thousands of hit points. In PvP and farming you will barely notice it. However, 1/5 Shadow Embrace is very common because it is an 'affliction effect' as stated by the Soul Siphon tooltip therefore as soon as you have any dot on the target your drain life will automatically be boosted by 5%. Very nice for 1 talent point.
things you might want:
for farming imp Drain Soul will save you TONS of time.
for PvP imp HSs and Demonic Embrace are life savers.
I'd maybe go for something like this:http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=IqMrqRfkqtbobxZxx0z
When you get to doing arenas, if you are going to do 2v2, go SL/SL. For 3v3 and 5v5 affliction works great, but make sure you have a team that fully understands your strengths and weaknesses and can assist you when being ganked.
