Affliction warlock switched to demo for heroic Feng. HALP.
Return to board index
Hey there fellow warlocks. I am an affliction warlock, a pretty good one at that but i've only been playing Lock for a couple months and recently switched to Demo for Heroic feng because affliction...really isn't good for those adds. It really isn't.
This said, I have no idea how to play demo...I really don't and whilst we killed feng relatively easy once we figured out how to handle the shield phase. I certainly did not enjoy being at the bottom of the meters rather than the top, even if I did manage(somehow) to burst 400k dps on teh adds themselves.
So what i'm asking is. Any accomplished demo locks out there happy to explain how exactly you play this spec so next time I can do a little more than suck?
The trick with demo is keeping up your dots and utilizing your meta correctly. Remember to keep doom+corruption on as many adds as possible. Also, only cast hand of gul-dan while NOT in meta (choas wave isn't a great use of fury), and try to keep that up as much as you can (100% uptime not possible due to CD).
When a fight starts, pop into meta to apply doom, then drop out. Somewhere between 80-90% fury, you'll want to switch into meta. While in meta, make use of touch of chaos mostly, and then when you run shy on fury, 10-20%, drop out of meta and continue your dps to build fury. Utilize your molten core procs for soul fire while not in meta, it builds up fury nice and fast. Remember to lifetap close to full mana before the execute phase, so you can spam soul fire (since molten core will have 100% uptime during executes).
Edit: remember to make use of dark soul - use it with your meta phases (ideally when a trinket procs too), this is also the best time to drop your doomguard (with meta+dark soul+trinket procs).
I play affliction as my main raid spec, but demo puts up some GREAT numbers on multiple fights, especially those where you can get doom on several targets (stone guard, Mel'jarak, etc.). It just takes some getting used it, but it's a lot of fun. Good luck.
