That's false. It's just a system they put in place to prevent gold scamming, etc. You still get your gold if you delete the message, it just takes the extra hour.

ok good. It seemed ridiculous, but there was a few people on trade channel that were all saying it did prevent you from getting your gold, so I wanted to be sure.
Pro tip: Don't believe what you hear in the Trade channel ;)
In any case, I don't mind waiting another hour for gold if it'll help prevent scamming.

I don't mind waiting the extra hour, I just wish the sale-pending mails would auto-delete once the money actually *got* to my mailbox; I hate logging in to twice as many mails to get rid of >_<

QFT
I deleted my notification mails too without any adverse effect.
An interesting note, though: when auctions were bought out while the posting character was not logged in, a "notice" message was not mailed. I just got the message with the money in it. It seems that's only sent if you're there while the
actual
message is en route.

There was an article on World of Raids the other day about gold sellers using the AH to transfer the gold by using bread and lvl 1 stuff like that. I guess Blizz reads WoR as well?

I wonder how delaying the gold is going to stop gold buying, all it will do is delay the time the purchaser gets the gold by an hour.
I don't know the mechanics of it, but as has been mentioned Blizz is monitoring AH transactions for what I guess they would consider "anamolies".
In other words, they most likely have code in place that monitors items being purchased and compares the buyout price to what they consider the "normal" buyout price for the item. Anything that is more than $XXX gold above "normal" gets flagged and reviewed. (sort of like Auctioneer's "BottomScan" in reverse) They then need to weed through what is legit and what is suspicious.
If you buy one loaf of moldy bread for 200g, maybe you're a dope or mis-clicked the item. You buy FIVE loafs for 200g/ea on five different transactions...suspicious.
The delay simply gives them more time to sort things out.
