so i was wondering if an all-in-1 form(bala/resto) build would work for raids(10mans mostly)
my guild atm has some good healers and stuff, so when im coming as healer im mostly thirt on healing meters(mostly cause 2 flash of light palas are in my group mostly).
so, would this build work as dps/healer, getting a good +spell damage gear would result in a bout 1k spell damage/healing, wich wouldnt be bad, for 10mans
gives you some balance, some resto, it's the typical "dreamstate" build that many use to start raidhealing with. It's a good build when you don't have the hottest gear.
It works but it's mostly a healing/farming template.
The main point of those dreamstate templates are to be able to spam Healing Touch, in order to do some efficient healing while not having enough of a +heal bonus to make the hot effect usefull enough.
As a byside, they also offer the ability to dps, but not enough to really compete as a dps in raids either. Better for farming but that's about it (lacks +8% to main nukes and 10/20% from your +dmg, that's a lot in the end).
I see it mostly as a transition build or small instances/farming build while you are gearing your druid with more +heal, because it's leaving on the side the tools that really make the druid different from the other healers, namely the hots.
so after reading this, i have a bout 1.3k healing, will it be worth going dreamstate than?
But, my first idea of this buils was to dps, and when emergency calls trow some heals(that are effective) and continue dpsing.
also, i was thinking of doing nice in arena and stuff(and 1v1)
It's not a good build for arena, at least not for the small brackets : your healing touch is going to be interrupted/silenced, leaving you quite useless for a while. You'd have to use your hots to avoid that, but you didn't boost them through talents and they have no synergy with the balance talents.
PvE wise, i'd say that it would make a good healing build while you get more gear. As far as dps goes, i'd say that you are going to do something like 15-20% less damage than a fully specced moonkin (i'm throwing out the numbers without doing the whole math, so take them with a grain of salt)
As far as emergency healing goes : you have to take into account that you will be in dps gear on those occasions, in order to be able to do some dps. Your mana regeneration won't be that good and same for your +healing (let's say around 700-800 from the gear level you seem to be at). You can switch weapons to recover a bit more +healing, but that's it.
So the question is : will such a situation arise often (ie you'll heal half of the time, or not on trashes but on all bosses, or whatever) ? If yes, spec dreamstate healing build.
If not, just spec full dps, you wont last as long as the other build but the synergies between balance gear and heal gear are still there and allow you to throw lifesaving Healing Touches all the same.
What I do (fully fledged moonkin) is to either throw urgency heal (doesn't last long anyway but can recover a wipe), get a real healing role (using full healing gear before the fight starts) on content that we have on farm/overgear, and respec restoration in case we really need a healer for content that is at our gear level.
well, this is what im thinking of atm after ready this all, dps gear on trash, healing gear on bosses
tho, im going to heal for a long while in raids and stuff cause i dont have dps gear yet
thx for the replys!
Im currently in kara with the build Bwirum said, and i gotta say, i kinda love it, tho im not doing so good on the meters(but my gear is kinda crap, +500spell damage, +1.2kh ealing)
