you actually dont need to be at the defense 'cap' (540) for heroics. 535 is just fine =P

My spec atm is pvp/tanking, not the one i am planning on having at 80, no reason to be mean >.>
If you're asking about if you will be ready to start tanking heroics at 80, but the spec you link us to is not the one you plan on using at 80..... do I really need to finish?

not asking for spec help, asking about gear/health/def, i can respec at anytime, i need to kno if my gear is good enough

As to the OP, if the gear you're in on armory at the time of this posting (e.g. 13k armor, 18k HP, 467 defense) then you are really low for tanking heroics. Your armor and health are what I have in my DPS gear, and you're far from uncrittable. You need 140 defense skill to be uncrittable, and you only have 77 (which means you need 63 more skill - not rating), currently you should have at least 20k health when not in frost presence (22k in frost presence), your armor probably wont go up too much but it certainly helps.
The biggest thing is getting uncrittable.
If you can do that in this patch, you're probably geared up enough. When 3.0.8 hits, however, and you get all that free defense, just being uncrittable isn't going to be a good enough measure. The defense that patch allows for will help 2 kinds of DK's: those who can't upgrade their gear because they will be defense capped (i.e. people like me who are at 540 defense exactly and have upgrades sitting in their bags that have less defense but more overall tanking stats), and for those who were like me before I got a few badge and rep pieces (and you currently) and were too undergeared to even reach 540.
In the next patch, in addition to being uncrittable, you'll need to have at least 24k armor and health in frost presence.

Like Holyblood, I actually started heroics with low stats. I think it was 509 Def. and 20.4k HP.
I actually haven't had any issues tanking. The occasional crit did end up screwing me over on a couple bosses, but overall it wasn't too big of a deal.
