Another help me my dps sucks thread

I have been reading the stickies over the past few days and been reworking my paladin from a tank to a dps in that time i have been gathering dps gear and with all but my back now reti gear all at a fair level with the exception of the ring and libram i am still struggling to do a decent amount of dps in raids.

my rotation is crusader strike, judgement, divine storm, consecration , exorcism then using what ever comes off cd however i am still only pulling off 2.5k dps. I have seal of vengence and bom up and have food buff for my expertise.I am using flask of endless rage and standing behind the target.

This low dps is in the easy raid which i should be pulling off some 3k+ dps os10 and voa10.

Am i doing something wrong?

Could my weapon skill be the problem as it is only in the 380s? Could the fact i use a sword?

Could the build be the issue.

I am lost the paladins i have spoke to on my server have all said my dps should be way higher.

First: Don't quote me on this but I'm about 50% sure the rotation ( by rotation I mean priority) is HoW->CS-> Judge-> DS ->Exorcism ->Consecrate, these are your priorities but it pretty much ends up in CS being in between each longer cooldown until a couple collide.

Second: Your weapon skill is VERY MUCH affecting your dps, level it immediately.

Third: Your expertise is a bit low but I feel like the rest might be more important (assuming my rotation is correct), Be sure to stand behind the boss too.

What seal do you use?

Download and use clcret or
Serious Help in Timing. (it is actually just the 1st letter in each... but the filters wont let me..

Either addon will up your dps by a large margin, as "rotation" is usually the #1 culprit for low dps.

That said, your low weapon skill is KILLING your dps.
level it immediately.

Go buy one of these cheap 2H's and go beat on those mobs in icecrown.... the undead ones just between dalran and the argent tourney grounds.

They heal themselves. You can pound on them practically endlessly.

Second thought.... just take what you got now and go grind eternals...

That way you make some gold while you lvl the skill.

Yup... thats a better idea..

But if you are in a hurry... go and do what i have crossed out.

As for your gear... a bunch could use upgrading but im sure you already know that.

Just double-checked your talents.

Please make your talents and glyphs look like this
There are 8 points left. I recommend vindication and imporved BoM.

The last 4 are up to you.

What seal do you use?

Remember use Seal of Command for trash(any pull with 3+ mobs).

Seal of Corruption/Vengeance for bosses(without multiple adds).

Seal of Righteousness for single mobs.

Switching to SoV can greatly increase your dps as well.

Don't forget.....

I usually use seal of Vengency for the bosses but to be honest don't usually change when there are different amounts of mobs this is something i will begin to do.

Regarding the talent build not sure why i have it the way it is but i will respect later.

i recommend running reg toc for drape of the undefeated, Girdle of Arrogant Downfall and Uruka's Band of Zeal you will lose some hit rating by replacing your low lvl blue ring but will make up for it with the added expertise, AP and crit.

this should help with the dps a little if not a lot, also it would be a good idea to fill out the Two-Handed Weapon Specialization with 3/3 talents instead of 2/3 as valundar said.

this is my spec it seems to work fine for me and the final point in the prot tree helps with group and raid wide damage a fair bit if used with divine protection.

thanks i respeced last night before Voa25 got my weapon skill up to 400 and tbh i have only just noticed thanks to pk23 that 2 hander specialization is only 2/3. Will change that later tonight.

The cloak i added last night was one i had in my bank as one I was going to use to my druid tank before but never used it so put that on for the extra expertise. With the changes valundar help me with my dps went up to 3.5k will go farm for the cloak and ring later tonight but all in all my dps look reasonable now ok not gonna be toping the dps charts just yet but even 3.5k in a resonable amount of dps in raids such as voa.

Thanks guys for all the help. I will up date on the changes i will make later regarding pk advice.

I owe u guys a big thanks went Onyxia 25 last as i felt i was ready after the help you guys gave me and my paladin has always been lucky and last night he managed to get Sharpened Obsidian Edged Blade i have lost about 3% hit from it but now have the expertise rating i needed.

I will replace the hit with gems being a JC a few 20hit gems wont cost me anything along with the replacement of a small strength gem to 20 hit i can make it back up to the 8% so my dps should increase even more :D

so now i have one last question on the new sword should i put massacre giving a nice 110 increased 110 AP 100% of the time or would berserking be better for the chance of 400 AP?

personally i still have the crappy champion seal sword with 85 AP but i see most raiders or better geared players with the berserking enchant. this is probably because the up time is fairly good.

edit: it requires better mats meaning more money but shouldn't be a problem
