Any reason to DW besides aesthetics?

Seems like a fair number of people want to DW, but have to jump through a lot of hoops to do so in terms of spec and gear. Is there any particular benefit to DW over 2H besides the aesthetic appeal (DW animations usually look cooler)?

for dps purposes, at the proper level of gear DW does have the capability of surpassing 2h damage output - getting to that level of gear is not easy, though; you need to get near the hit cap and maintain a certain amount of attack power and crit. Dont ask me what exactly the numbers are, I dont DPS, i'm a tank =P

Weird, I've never liked to Dual Weild as anything that can wear Plate, it was either sword + board, or 2h.

DW specs can pull off some decent damage as seen here. Pretty good, actually.

I dualwield DPSsd in Naxxramas 10man the other night and won dps meter on some bosses ;)

Its just awesome but you have to spec right and use the right rotations to make it work :)

I don't intend to roll a DK, but will DW be PvP-viable as well? Just curious :P

Very doubtful, for the same reasons that you don't see Gladiator Warriors dual-wielding.

Your spells will suffer immensely due to the low top-end damage of single-handed weapons. Plus, you're going to be kited by good players, meaning that you will have minimal time to have your duel-wielding white damage shine.

DW (in my eyes) is only truly necessary if your having issues with the defense cap. right now your not gonna find a 2H with any def on it, not till the patch anyway.

as far as DPS ive never seen a vast difference with 2H and DW.
