Hi,
I've looked around at all guides and everything I think I know how it works. I've even surveyed a few sites and come up with some fragments.
However, all the guides say 'In your Archeology tab....'. I honestly can't figure out where the Archeology tab is at all. Can you please help this dumb archeologist...
Cheers.

The archaeology tab is in your spellbook, on the professions page.
There should be a box that has the little "survey" shovel that you use to dig, and another icon. Clicking that icon brings up a page with various icons on it representing each branch of arcaheology:
Dwarf, Troll, Fossil, etc.
If the icon is grayed out, you do not have any fragments of that type. If the icon is brightly colored, you can click on it and you will see a page with the name of the item you will get next time you "solve" something. At the bottom of that page there will be a progress bar telling you how many fragments you have so far, and how many will be needed to solve the item.
If the item is one that can be solved by use of "keystones" there will be hexagonal "socket" type holes under the progress bar. If you have a keystone that can be used for the item, clicking the socket will apply the keystone to your progress (1 keystone = 12 fragments). Not all items use keystones, and fossil archaeology has no keystones available at this time.
Personally, I try to save keystones for when I am trying to assemble a rare item. 150 fragments goes a bit faster when you can apply a few keystones to the process.

Thank you very much. I think my problem was that I tried to find the tab before I had any fragments, so, as you say, it was greyed out.
Thanks very much.
Cheers.
