Are these fish actually this valuable?

Hi, I've been using the Auctioneer addon for a couple of weeks and have done enough regular scans for the suggested prices in the appraiser to largely be at a sensible level for sales. However, a couple of fished items 17 Pound Catfish and 19 Pound Catfish keep coming up as silly money in the appraiser: about 8,000 gold and 11,000 respectively. Amy idea what's going on? I'm assuming they are worth nothing like this money, or am I sitting on a goldmine?

I believe those are some of the rarer catches that may be part of a fishing achievement.

What most likely happened with your AddOn is it captured some people who attempted to sell them at some ridiculous price (likely unsuccessfully).(##RESPBREAK##)12##DELIM##Sas148##DELIM##

I was under the impression that the Auctioneer appraiser averaged process of sold items rather than an inflated prospective buy out price but I may be wrong. I'd fished up about four of these in an hour or two of fishing so am assuming they can't be too rare.

Edit - consensus seems to be that these fish are not worth anything, just a novelty item. I guess Auctioneer is just winding me up.

I'm really not sure the AddOn is able to determine the difference between something bought, cancelled or expired other than the ones you post yourself. I could be mistaken as well though.

You are going to learn two lessons today

1. The add-on ONLY takes into account the listed price, it has no way of knowing for what something sells. People like me abuse the heck out of that fact and trick people into buying out our stuff at silly high prices. For intance.. that fish.. your auctioneer tells you it is ´worth´ 8k.. because I have listed it at 8k for the past month. then one day, you see ´wow, here is one for sale for only 1k.´ and think you are getting a bargain and can resell it later for 8k. I don´t actually do that with items like the fish, but I do do it for other items and it works..there are an army of people out there using Auctioneer with no idea of it´s limitations.. you can purposefully trick it into giving something a high value, then sell the same item for half as much and sure enough, someone will buy up your item.

2. Different issue - People sell those fish at that price trying to trick achievement hunters. there are acheivements for CATCHING those fish.. but a lot of people will buy the fish thinking it will get them the achievement.

Generally, auction add-ons are only reliable for items that are traded in high volume (if it shows less than a few hundred auctions scanned, it's probably not accurate). Personally, I only trust it for crafting mats, and even then it's sometimes off for the more obscure stuff.
