I'm against it...and it's not an e-peen thing.
The problem is that afk-botting is going to go OUT OF CONTROL. Even if Blizzard put a cap on how much honor could be earned from BG's in a given week (say 250 for example) alot of players would make sure they went AFK all day until they had their 10 wins for the week.
On one hand, It will be good for the players who don't do arena, because they will have access to gear 1 tier better then what they currently have. Also, those players might become interested in arena and try to pursue particular ratings to get relentless pieces they need.
However, we'll start having more players "sell team ratings" again too. A bad ass player can carry an average player to 1800 rating for a large gold fee. Then that player just sits on his rating and AFK's for weeks until he has the weapons and gear he needs.
In fact, alot of teams might sit on their ratings more, and just AFK in BG's. This means less people actually participating in arena and longer queue times for those who do actively participate in arena. I can totally see a team hitting 2k then just not doing arena for a full month and AFK'ing in the BG's until they have their relentless helm, chest, shoulders, etc all purchased. The relentless chest costs 2150 arena points or 84 BG wins...just assuming that the player wins 50% of their AFK BG's...going AFK in 168 BG's for each item will ruin the level 80 BG's for players that like to participate in them.
TLDR Version: (there is none...it's really not that long, read it)
EDIT: Apparently the patch notes just got updated..you only get the 25 arena points from doing the daily BG. This is a good change overall. It will actually discourage botting b/c people will try to participate and win. Also, there is clearly a cap of 25 arena points per day so people can't AFK farm it. Good job Blizzard :)

Only from daily quests. That means, up to 175 arena points extra each week.

New! (11/03): All level 71-80 Battleground daily quests will now award 25 Arena points in addition to their current rewards.
Just the dalies, not BGs in general.

meh, in all hindsight, for battleground players, this is pretty much useless.
everything but the gear you can buy with honor requires ratings.
25 points per day isnt much when you consider that the cheapest thing (gloves) require 200 points. in 8 days your most likely going to have enough honor to buy the gloves, and then some.
