i did know, but i mean is it worth having to wait for 1850 personal rating (and we know how hard that is for ferals) for 7 white dmg???

Depends, no one can answer that really except for you. Are you good enough to get to a 1850 personal rating without having to wait ages for it? If not go with the S2 mace for now and worry about the S3 at a later time ie after you get the armor.

actually AP increases your yellow damage by a LOT

take this for example

i have 2501 AP with motw alone
my mangle crits for about 1400
my shreds crit for about 2300

in one of my karazhan raids, i had an enhancement shaman, a fury warrior, and a MM hunter in my group
that gives me battle shout, strength of earth, grace of air, unleashed rage (when the shaman crits), and trueshot aura
along with when my trinket (hourglass of the unravaller) procs, i go up over 4000+ AP

now with 4000+ AP, on shade of aran, my mangles are critting for 2000, and my shreds are critting for 3.5k

Doesn't really say anything. Shade of Aran has the armor of a paperclip; he's particularly weak to melee.

To compare values, damage tests need to be done on the same mob, with the same attacks, with only the equipment / buffs / whatever in question being different. (In other words, keep every other variable but the one you're testing the same.)

As for whether the S3 weapon is worth it over the S2 one? I dunno. If I was any good at PVP (I'm not), I'd most certainly go for S3 over S2 for a PVE upgrade (it's the best weapon in the game right now, if I don't misremember). But I'd also get S2 while waiting to get the S3 if I was using something vastly inferior and knew I couldn't get the required rating quickly.

true, but my post was just to show you how much AP affects your yellow damage, which is half of your damage (the other half being white damage), and since AP boosts both, +AP is always good

and it is on the same mob, i dont usually have an enh shaman, fury warrior and MM hunter with me

my damage on aran with the usual +AP buffs (kings, motw, might) yields only 2800 shreds (up from 2200 unbuffed)

so 3500 is a huge boost in damage

and the "you decide for yourself" comment meant, you decide whether PVPing for that S3 staff is worth it or not

I would just grind out the Arena points for the Season 2 mace and not worry about the Season 3 weapon.

tbh the difference between s1 -> s2 -> s3 is pretty mild. You only need to worry about having "the absolute best" weapon when all of your other gear is the absolute best.
