I am a little disppointed by the new T7 for tanks, and even more by the gear the vendors sell.
Look at my
profile
. Right now I have ~135 Emblems of Heroism, and I have no idea what to buy. Tier 7? Its defense rating is rather shabby, and it's only slightly better than what I have.
I am also Exalted with Kirin Tor, Argent Crusade, and Wyrmrest Accord. The
epic gloves
from Kirin Tor are kind of good, but are not badge gear. And Frozen Orbs sell poorly on my server, so I can't even make money off those.
Should I wait? I know more Badge stuff tends to come after the first release, but doesn't it take quite a while?

Ya, I'm using badges for my healing set. I'm almost up to 1800 sp now. It's sad when you get heroic blue drops that are just as good as a lot of the plate naxx drops.
Oh, I'm in mostly mail, leather, and mage cloth for my healing gear. The plate is very disappointing. You can check my armory. I'm healing like a mad man. I pushed a 19k hp T6 geared tank at 500 def thru 4 heroics last night with only 3 wipes total. =) I had to teach him some of the new tricks to pally tanking....

its funny how I made a thread about this a few days ago and everyone was saying it's not that bad for prot. Why is this thread going the other way?
Yes, I lost some defense rating on my chest, but I finally picked up the legs from H VH for tanking and and made up for the loss.
It was explained to me that it's easier to hit the avoidance/mitigation recommendation for Nax with block rating than it is dodge and parry.
Take it with a grain of salt, I know, but that's the direction the other thread went.

However, if you like pvp at all, get either the ret or holy savage gladiator set.
Ewww, holy pvp..... Ret all the way for PVP IMO. Way too much disrupt for healing as a pally in PVP imo. Maybe the survivability will go up again, and make it more fun, but right now, the plate gear for holy is horrible, and you really need plate all the way around to be a good pvp healer.

Your chestpiece
vs
Nax 10 chestpiece
With the Nax 10, you get:
+75 Armor
+13 Strength
-6 Stamina
-11 Defense
+1.73 Avoidance
+1 Blue Socket
+1 Yellow Socket
The Stam and Defense you can easily make up with gems and even keep the socket bonus. It's not a huge upgrade, but you'll get more avoidance, threat, and mitigation. And like everyone says, you add up a bunch of minor upgrades and you'll end up with a major difference.
My 2 cents.

Block rating isn't avoidance -- it's mitigation. So you'd be losing avoidance (parry) and gaining more mitigation (block rating). IMO it's a sidegrade. I wouldn't look to T7 (except gloves and maybe shoulders) for gear except for the 2-piece set bonus. There are non-set epics from Naxx that are way better.
True, in that Block Rating is technically mitigation and not pure avoidance. However, it's still more important for pallys.
Quote from Main Tankadin:
Block Cap
After you are Uncrittable, you should start working towards the The Block Cap. This may be a new concept for Paladin tanks, but it really isn't. The Block Cap is what used to be known as Uncrushable, i.e. a combined Miss, Parry, Dodge, and Block of 102.5%. Once you reach that point, any additional Block Rating falls off the table. You are 'capped' on the amount of Block you can have. It should be noted that since Holy Shield was changed to have its duration be longer than it's cooldown, it is now safe to assume 100% uptime on Holy Shield when calculating your Block Cap, however, don't make the mistake a certain Paladin I know (who shall remain nameless) made and continue to count Holy Shield at 35% unless you plan on continuing to wear the Libram of Repentance. Holy Shield is only 30%.
Being at the Block Cap is very helpful because it means that every unavoided attack from the Boss will be a Block. Paladins are the only class now that can stay Block Capped 100% of the time. Each Block takes off damage equal to your Block Value. If the Boss hits for 9000, and you have 900 Block Value (not unreasonable), you effectively shave off 10% of the damage each and every hit. That can add up to a huge amount of damage reduction over the course of the fight.
It also provides Paladins with the most predictable damage intake, and makes Paladins the easiest tank to heal.
So you can't be Crit, and every incoming attack is a Block at the worse case, what's next?

So why is it the block cap?
Parry - 49 rating to get 1%
Dodge - 39 rating to get 1%
Block - 16 rating to get 1%
It takes less to stack block, but once you reach the avoidance number, block rating is useless.
So, if you want to stack dodge and parry instead. By all means, it's just another way to get up to the avoidance number.
Oh, and yeah, there are other epic drops in naxx that might be better. But then it boils down to guaranteed loot vs lucky drops.
