what i would like... is an addon that can tell your gear outfits (based on the in game outfit manager OR a mod) and display those as a "set" .... obv. you setting outfit priority in the display so that items shared by two sets show in only one...
Baggins can do this, or at least it can for itemrack sets (with a module addon), and can easily do it by itemid otherwise.
Basically, it functions by generating 'virtual' sections. These sections are then populated based on various criteria, such as item type, quality, item slot, BoE, etc. etc. etc. However, the real power of Baggins lies in the fact that it can filter based on lib-PeriodicTable-3.0 filters. In other words, you can make a bag that shows all of your herbs, or a bag that shows you all of the trade goods you can't directly use for your profession.
Now each of these virtual section can then be tied into a bag. You can tie them all into one bag (or make a single section and tie that to a single bag for an all in one inventory), or you can tie them each to their own bag, or any combination therein.
For example, here's my bag layout:
Sections: Unfiltered items, Trash (gray items)
Sections: Motes/Crystallized, Primals/Eternals, Every other trade good that isn't an herb
Sections: PvE Gear, PvP Gear, Arena Gear, Misc Gear (all four based off item rack sets. The last one being a catchall for any item that's in an item rack set, but not part of the first three.)
Sections: Misc (list of item ids like my hearthstone and other such novelties), Fishing (lures, fishing hats, rod, etc.), Tabards
Sections: Elixirs, Flasks, Potions, and Misc Consumables (bandages, food, arrow/bullets, etc.) The first three sections (elixirs, flasks, and potions) are set to show up minimized by default.
Sections: Quest items (all items that either start a quest, or are used for a quest).
Poisons / Reagents:
Sections: Poisons, Reagents, Temporary Weapon Enchants (sharpening stones, oils, etc.)
Sections: Keys (basically my keyring)

By default this is done with a fubar plugin or lib-databroker launcher, but the macros are easy enough to make :P
