Death knights use melee strikes that are instant, so it would not make your rotation slower. And GENERALLY speaking, the slower weapon will have a higher max damage. While leveling, look at the max weapon damage first and don't even worry about speed for upgrades.

And to the OP link the two weapons you have questions about, because sometimes just because a weapon is slower doesnt mean it is better, what you really want to look for is a really high Top end damage

the polearm is better then this sword because the top end is higher even though the DPS is close

this axe is also a great option if you dont get hellreaver, and if you get one or the other you can have it last until 65 and the ring of blood quest

Also none of the DKs abilities (that i can think of at least) are based on weapon speed they are all instant cast so to speak so in general you should be safe going with the slower weapon (just remeber to check top end)
