Ajoy there, well my friends, I just had some great news today. A fan project that has been in development for a whooping EIGHT YEARS has FINALLY seen the light of day.

My friends, I present thee: Black Mesa Source.

Have you played Half-Life 1? are you a fan of that game? if the answer to either of these questions is yes (and if its "no" a more proper question is "what the hell is wrong with you?") then prepare to be rejoiced.

All the way back in 2004, Half-Life 2 was released, and with it, a "remake" (and I use the word very loosely here) of Half-Life 1 called "Half-Life: Source". Supposedly it was a remake of the original game, but with the more potent source game. In reality, it just was the original half-life, but with ragdoll physics. All the low-res textures of the original 1999 game were still there, same sounds, same voices, same everything.

Some fans decided that this was NOT the actual remake a grandiose game like Half-Life deserved, and thus began their project, Black Mesa Source, the idea being that this would be a REAL remake of the original, with better textures, lightning, ect. Its been far too long since a peep was heard from them. And after 8 years, most people (myself included) thought they had long since given up. Turns out, they didnt.

And just a few days ago, they released their mod. FOR FREE!

IMO this is a really fitting homage and tribute to what has got to be the finest Shooter I've ever played (yes even better than DooM something I thought impossible for nearly 10 years till I played half-life and half-life 2 all those years ago)

Oh man the memories. I even did some of the same mistakes i did then. and went DOH.

Ohh man, I know right? :P The same derpiness from 13 years ago, resurfacing again. In this game, you get the crowbar a little bit later, so once I had it, I felt the urge to smash any wooden crate within sight. Even the one that very clearly was labeled as "explosives". Just like 13 years ago :P I made the exact same mistake once I saw that crate (back then I thought if I pried them open I'd get grenades or something)
