I think it was you - if not, my appologies - that mentioned one of the "of the << animal >>" was Pally plate..what was it again?
I'm shopping so hopefully someone is awake enough to tell me :P

I'm shopping so hopefully someone is awake enough to tell me :PIf your talking about greens from the AH then "Bear" gear is great as a Ret pally. You can mix in Eagle and Gorilla to build up your mana pool as well. Just don't forget there are other Greens/Blues that are named, ie. not "...of the animal" pieces that may have better stats for what your looking for.

Ok so Eagle for me then - thats what I thought I remembered..I only saw cloth tho, which makes no sense. I'm assuming that theres plate too and I just didn't see it. I'm wearing alot of the 'Bear' stuff now but I'll keep looking for the others for the slots I need to upgrade.
I made some
Earthforged Leggings
which look really nice but I can't wear the rest of the set because im only level 50 now.

to tell the truth, if you're 50, i won't bother with upgrading gear
57 = tBC items from AH
costs ~ 40G to replace everything you have

she's protection, and spell damage is overrated, just go to blood furnace and pick up the spell damage mace, that will be good enough.
agility is better than MP5 anyday
at level 70
18 dodge rating = 1% dodge
23 parry rating = 1% parry
25 agility = 1% dodge

I can't do that zone for another 10 levels at least :P. What's the 'tbc' I should be looking for so I can search for the armor that I can get later?

I'm sorry bro but for leveling a prot pally spell damage is king over avoidance. Once you get to 70 it's a different story.
tanked at 68 with 0 spell damage... that was painful...
but i've noticed that you only need ~50 SD for 64, ~80 for 68
anywho.. spell damage is very important if you're solo grinding,i can agree with that completely
but for for instance leveling i find the defensive traits more important
to be honest though, I think it's more personal preference to pick out 2 sets of gear for soloing and tanking, i can see where you're coming from, but this is my experience

As prot (solo aoe grinding) I find Block, Spelldamage and Defense to be the best. They increase your damage done and reduces the amount of damage you take. Stamina and int are both nice, but they only increase your pools, which you'll be filling up with SoL/W anyway. It does give you a larger margin for error, tho, and sta is ofc great when tanking.
Also, note "...of the Knight" - Sta Def Spelldmg.
