You might have a bit more luck asking this question in the
Hunter forum.

Hi, welcome to BM :)
As a rule I follow, I use ferocity specced pets for PvE and Tenacity spec for PvP. That said, each pet has abilities that are more useful in certain situations, and as such, I tend to use a moth/spider pet for PvP - for the web and dust special attacks, in solo PvE I use a turtle specced for tanking and in instances I use either a cat/wolf or a Quillen for it's battle res.
I hope this helps you to ease the confusion :)

As BM... never use Moth, Spider, Turtle or Wolf.... *sigh*
Turtle specced for tanking... you gotta be trolling, you don't ever need a tanking pet for solo PvE
Such fail information if i have ever seen any, you say "ease the confusion" i'm baffled about your knowledge. Clearly you don't pay any attention about the spec at all or what new pets are available / abilities they have gotten.
Sorry to sound harsh, but anyone that doesn't have any ideas about BM spec & happens to glance at your post will perhaps use this advice.
Pets for PVE- Water Strider: Crit / Spell power
- Spirit Beast: Mastery / healing ability
- Quillen: Crit / Battle Rez, **Warning** never use this ability unless told to do so while raiding.
- The 4th, 5th pet slot is really upto you if your doing LFD... unless doing Challenge modes.
- Core Hound: If you have no mage or shammy / Use for: Challenge modes / 10man raiding
For more detailed information about pet abilities use this website
wow-petopia.comAlways use "Ferocity spec'd" the other spec's are semi pointless.
With so many Exotic pets you shouldn't ever feel the need to use anything else.
PVP - Arena / RBGBM spec is all about getting as much damage off at the right time, keep your pet on the target at much as possible... Pet micro management is key... so macro the pets abilities to your main burst abilities. Rather then let the pet decide.
What pets should you use, well that truly depends on group setup. Always use "Ferocity spec'd"... since BM is all about Burst damage, after cooldowns & dps trinkets used, you will hit like a wet paper bag without Ferocity pets by yourside.
For a starter person doing PVP for the first time, use a Spirit Beast. That healing ability is amazing. Anyone else... use common sense.
On a side note, use the pet that you feel works best for you. This information isn't detailed, but it will help a little.
