i am a Elf, and I use a gun. its just preference. I am currently in the middle of getting the materials for a nesingwary 4000 (spelling) and I am getting mats for higher leatherworking items.

This is why my hunter is a troll. If numbers convince you on any level, a dwarf's agility is naturally low which means the crit chance on a gun makes up for that in a way. You could try searching system files for the gun noise and deleting it, or copy/pasting the bow noise and renaming it, but I don't know if such a thing is possible.
