Good advice from Moonswords above.
In addition, unless Armory is bugged, it looks like you barely have any of your gear enchanted (and you have a very old enchant on your shoulders). Your gear is good enough to start slapping some enchants on. AP to bracers, AGI to Cloak, Stats to Chest, AP to Gloves. These things may seem like small DPS boosters, but taken all together...it's a pretty big boost. Definitely add in the Belt socket and ditch the level 70 trinket.
If you are speaking about breaking 2k dps in instances, you're simply not going to get that far above it since things die relatively quickly and because you won't have the same amount of party/raid buffs as you would in a 10/25-man. If you're at the 2k dps point in heroics now, that's not a terrible place to be.

Your dps with these two and what you are wearing should put you up in the range you are looking for. Just remember that the consecrate, even on a single mob is an assist on your dps. Also, drop the Blessing of Kings and throw in Eye for an Eye and Anticipation. Getting hit less will help your healer a lot.
This is terrible advice. As a ret paladin, you shouldn't even be getting hit by mobs. Eye for an Eye has absolutely ZERO effect on PvE, because Mobs' spells can't crit. And the points in Anticipation wouldn't have enough of an influence to matter.
Picking up Kings is now pretty much widely regarded as a ret paladins job, because we have the points to spare. In a 5-man, where the likelihood of another paladin in the group is smallest, it is a huge, huge buff. The healer will like it MUCH more of the tank has 10% more Stam and Agi than if you have 3% more dodge.
Awful advice. Do not drop Kings.

And these are completely and utterly wrong reasons. You are speaking for your own personal 5-man group and have no larger context or even reasonable logic for him to get two completely and utterly useless skills for PvE (and aren't even that great in PvP, to be honest).
Your friend and the tanks he is grouping with are morons if he is constantly pulling aggro no matter who he plays with. This goes without saying. I can group with a completely scrub tank and still not pull aggro by playing intelligently and knowing when to smash AoE and when not to. It's really not that hard.
In a raid environment (looking at your Achievements, I can see your "raid experience" is extremely minimal), the points in Anticipation are simply never going to save your life. First, in a raid environment, if you pull aggro on a boss, you are going to die 9 times out of 10. If you pull aggro on a boss, you will probably cause others to die. It should just never happen. You are advocating 3 points in Anticipation for something that should NEVER happen above a 10% to all stats for your 5-mans in which there are no other Paladins, or even the odd 10-man when there isn't one. This is beyond stupid.
I have found people who say they do not want to get in arguments are the ones presenting insanely stupid arguments. You are doing such a thing.
