The boy refused to raise his eyes, sullen because he did not know how to answer the older man. Finally he looked up. "Why'd you go?" he asked quietly.
Sherry shook her head. "Not really. We're not from town, but there's still not many around who'd care for the walk. And you have to stay when night falls anyway, so the only time we could entertain is in the middle of the day."

The skeletal guard descended deep into the catacombs. They drew to a halt, the yellow glow of their eyes flashing about the tomb like candle flames. "Master?" one groaned. There was a sound of furious scrambling and a figure shot upright. Glowing blue eyes burned angrily as the darkfallen brushed free his expansive cloak of dust.
"Unconthioable, thtupid dutht! Don't tuth me...Come!" he ordered, sweeping deeper into the catacombs. "I require athithtanth your kind are lacking in. There thould be a pathage deeper into the thellth thomewhere around here..."

"Oh for..." The druid undid her bag and pulled out a roll of cloth. She swiftly wrapped it around her breasts, tying the knot in the back almost violently. "There! Happy? I'll be in cat form most of the time anyway, intolerant jerk."

Richard sniffled, crying and furious because he was. Hastily he tried to wipe his eyes on the coarse linen of his sleeve.

Max rolled his eyes. "Oh for...Bleep? Take the tiller. Keep us parallel to those mountains. We're going west. Due. So we got a bit of sailing to do," Max instructed, climbing through the longboat until he was in the center. Grabbing one of the spare oars from the bottom of the boat he stuck it in its cradle. "Little help?" he called, gesturing it the second oar pointedly.

Victor threw his arm after Tristan and, like a whip, his scarf snapped out and wrapped around the boy's arm. "Oh come now Tristan," the older wizard sighed, his scarf reeling in his quarry. "Don't be so agitated. I'm only joking."

Richard continued to sniffle until long after the elder was gone, standing miserably in the middle of the orchard with eyes red and puffy, nose running, and feeling extraordinarily sorry for himself not for crying, but for doing it before the other man. With this came shame, which only deepened his misery.

"So how did it go?" Clink asked when he noticed Richard standing in the doorway. "I think I made it worse." He said as he sat down on the ground next to Clink. "He hates me even more now." He grumbled.
