as much as she wants to be a moonkin, it really is a lot better to level as feral. while it is true you will have competition for gear, her being feral will also buff you, in addition to just being more efficient.
honestly recommend feral. plus, she might find the synergy between you both cute :D

yeah, find a cat build. unless you plan to chain instance, with her tanking.
