Tailoring cloak embroideries > Pretty much any other bonus from another profession, in my opinion.
I roll tailoring + enchanting, but I'm pretty 'old school'. :P

shame you don't have a herbalist. Tailoring and Alchemy are an amazing combo. But tailoring pretty much trumps all with the cloak enchants. you can customise very easily in regards to throughput and regen.

I just recently switched to Tailoring/JC (Last week), and it's great. You can choose between throughput and regen on your cloak, and get a boost to your Sp/Int/Crit/haste/whatever you stack from your JC gems.
They make a pretty good combo since you can customize the benefit to your needs.

Just don't take any gathering professions. All crafting professions are pretty much equal, the difference is in the order of around 2-3 spellpower.
Most professions will get you pure SP as bonus (leathworking, enchanting and so on). Some professions are more flexible (blacksmithing, jewelcrafting) so you can use the bonus for int if you really want to. Other professions offer nice procs (tailoring, engineering) which are more situational. I think the engineering haste enchant for gloves is extremely awesome for healing since it gives you kind of a miniature Bloodlust/Heroism for yourself when lots of throughput is needed.
But even then the difference to other professions is so minor I wouldn't really care about it much.
In the end
any
crafting profession will do just fine and there is no real difference in the stat bonus you get from them.
What really matters is the
utility
professions provide. The bonus may be the same for all of them but some make your life significantly easier. As a blacksmith you will never need a Rogue to open a lock anymore, lockpicks are great. As alchemist you have to spend half as much money on flasks since yours last twice as long and you also get free mana/healing potions for yourself. As enchanter or jewelcrafter you don't have to run to guildies every time you upgrade your gear. As engineer you get tons of awesome small gimmicks that are useful. And so on.
Don't pick a profession for the stat bonus. They are all equal. Pick a profession for the utility it provides, for the bonus effect you want to have. My personal favorites are blacksmithing for lockpicks, alchemy for longer lasting flasks and engineering for the rocket boots (and the parachute on other classes than Priests, for a Priest with Levitate the parachute isn't really relevant).

oscar divine your sticky was helpful in alot of ways. yet confusing in some. I thought that enchanters could enchant there rings and that was the only thing exclusive they could do. I thought all the other enchants were availabele to everyone. i don't have an enchanter so i could be entirely wrong. tailoring does seem viable. but again i thought anyone could purchase there leg enhancements. i could be wrong there also. i have a LW and everyone can use the i can just make mine for cheaper.
personally i am leaning towards blacksmithing for the sockets. the extra stats from the gems seem to be very nice. i don't have and enchanter and it would be usefull to all my toons. especially since i have a druid who is a hebalist/scribe who can send vellums for the enchants to be put on. I am going to be using this priest after leveled, exclusively for healing for my guild in raids. so i would like to pick the 2 professions that will make my priest the most powerful, usefull, and efficient. lol i know i'm not asking for much. thx for the advice everyone. anymore advise will be gretly appreciated. anyone who does alot of raid healing plz lemme know what professions you have. and how it works out for you and why. again thanks.
enchanters can only enchant their rings.. yes that's exclusive to them.. Yes, you can buy leg enhancements, but the tailoring-only leg enhancements (
this
and
this
) are much easier and cheaper to make for yourself than the generic caster spellthreads (
this
and
this
) and they also require no reputation to purchase the patterns, saving you a lot of time in the long run to be able to amplify each piece of gear you get quickly and cheaply.

The thread really does just go through things exclusive to professions, so what sets them apart from the others. Everyone can get enchants same as others, so this doesn't set you apart as an individual with the profession any more than any other person.

Just read my post again.
Every single crafting profession offers pretty much the same bonus
. You get about as much spellpower from the enchanting-only rings as you get from the LW-only bracer fur lining as you got from the bonus blacksmithing sockets as you get on average from the tailoring cloak proc and so on. There are extremely small differences of about 1-2 spellpower between those professions but that hardly matters.
All crafting professions are equal for their stat bonus. All crafting professions make your Priest equally powerful. They are balanced. Chose your professions for the utility they provide and not for the stat bonus. The stat bonus does not set them apart, the provided utility (rocket boots, lockpicks, convenience on gear upgrades, money saved from long lasting flasks and free mana/health potions and so on) does.

I'd suggest either
Tailoring
/
Enchanting
, or
Tailoring
/
Inscription
.
Tailoring's cloak enchants (both of them) are extremely powerful and provide awesome amounts of regen or throughput, depending on your needs.
Both Enchanting and Inscription would net you 46 spellpower boosts, through different methods.
It's nice to take all your stacks of cloth and make something from them, then be able to disenchant it all afterwards and you've got yourself a pretty decent supply of enchanting mats. With the new Need/Greed/Disenchant rolling system, however, obtaining enchanting mats has become relatively trivial.
