Changing from FG/Ember -> Affliction?

Right now, I'm a FG/Ember warlock and am having no troubles topping DPS charts. However, I'd also like to give affliction a shot as it seems a bit more fun, in my perspective at least.
I was just curious as to how badly my dps would take a hit if I specced into 51/0/15 +5 using my current gear.
Armory:

Also, would going over hitcap be worth the sacrifice in SP? , since I raid with boomkin + draenei.] I don't mind changing some gems up.
Thanks!

Well, you won't always be with a boomkin, so it's safe to keep a trinket or something just incase there isn't one... with 1 below the cap, it wouldn't hurt to change up one gem.. perhaps swap out some gems to get it right on the dot, but since you'll change gear real fast, I wouldn't worry about it atm...
As for your gear, don't socket crit... and also.. the 2 piece t7... that's part of the reason I went destro... you'll still be able to use it in aff, but refreshing dots, you might miss it... nonetheless, Just switch out your gems, and you'll be good to go aff.
also, note that dummies won't show you the actual dps you'll be doing... You need to take it out on a few 'test runs' before you actually see results.

not sure it's really about timing per sé, get a good DoT timer addon and you just have to be on the ball about recasting.

I say "Skip Immolate" since all it does for me is lower my DPS, but nobody listens to me. <shrug>

khrall32, the only difference in those 2 rotations is the placement of corruption. i use corruption early because it's the DoT that does the most damage so i want it up quick but in any fight worth casting a full DoT rotation it won't matter at all.
it may be because i have a bit of haste but i find that with UA early i would clip it if i recast at the end of a rotation and haunt CD isn't up. you don't ever want to wait for the haunt cooldown. cast a SB then cast haunt. likewise the doTs. never recast early. clipping is very bad.
you should have some time for SBs and i still don't think nightfall (talent or glyph) is good. but your preference.
raz, you need to state your reasons why you think it lowers your dps and maybe give a bit of theory craft to back it up because i have plenty of anecdotal experience of it increasing output and a there's plenty of theorycraft to back up immolate's use. it's fine to differ in opinion but it's only right that people don't take heed without good reason.

glyph os SiLi is very nice yeah. a tangible dps increase.
and, you're right, DO clip haunt, cast it as soon as it's off CD. when you factor in flight time at max range there's actually a small window there if you want to maintain 100% haunt uptime so the sooner you cast, the the better.

cool ^^
good timers:
at this point
DoTimer
is pretty ubiquitous. it's very good.
at the minute, though, i use
TimerButtons
which is written by a warlock who posts on the warlock's den forum. i really like it.

So I guess that sort of answers my question.
But I mean, would affliction be better overall DPS in the long run?
Or would it be pointless to regear and just get a +50 dps improvement?

it can be a good imrpovement. depends on playstyle and concentration i think.
you started by saying that you wanted to change even though you thought your dps might drop. you seem to have gathered that affliction can be very powerful so it depends on the player. give it a go and see if affliction fits/

Well the only reason I thought my DPS would drop is because of the way I'm geared currently.
I have lots of +crit items and not as much haste and as of WotLK, I'm not even sure what each tree benefits most off of anymore, just that +crit is much better with destro.

that isn't quite true:
crit_rating=0.66 haste_rating=0.98 hit_rating=1.56 intellect=0.32 spell_power=1.46 spirit=0.47 stamina=0.00
but it really won't matter so much. your itemisation will work just fine for affliction.

Alright, thanks for the help :).
Probably going affliction today for my 25man.
We'll see how it works.
EDIT:
Just another question though, am I doing fine gear-wise? Gemming and enchanting? Or am I going the right direction as an aff or fg/ember lock?
Thank you in advance :).
